Absolutely Stupid Fast

I've tried so many card readers it's crazy, and this one wins hands down for speed. I have two of these in the tower that Lexar makes and when I insert a couple of my Lexar 1000x 32GB CF cards with several gigs of 5D Mark III video files, I usually get a sustained copy speed of 135mb/sec. Great system. I've got a newer Asus X79 motherboard and I know that USB 3.0 drivers and technology has gotten better recently so that may have a part in this, FWIW.

Called Lexar and they said the problem was with LR! Went out today and bought a CF card locally (a different brand), and it worked great. So, the problem does not seem to be with LR, but rather, the Lexar Workflow has issues with LR. Can't recommend this product if it is going to be used with LR.

Nice compact CF reader

Received this product today, July 17, 2014. so I haven't really fully tested it out. It is replacing a 3 year old Lexar Pro Dual Slot USB 3 reader which bit the dust. Liked it a lot, but noticed this reader for a little less money, and I don't need an SD reader anymore. So this seemed perfect. It seems to work very well; I plugged it into my computer and pictures showed up immediately in Lightroom. Very impressed!! I did notice however that the device connector is different from the other USB 3.0 connectors I have been using. This is a concern for me, because I do a lot of travel with my equipment and all my other USB 3.0 gear have the same USB 3.0 thin connector (same as the Lexar Dual Slot reader), giving me lots of backup cables. This reader has a different connector which means I will have to go out and buy an extra to carry as a backup.

Questions about this item:

Nellie P  I've looked at the Lexar workflow professional usb 3.0 card reader. I can't figure out how this plugs into the computer port? I am using a Memory Stick duo adaptor that you slide the memory card into, and then plug the adaptor into the computer port. It transfer the memory card data directly into the computer photo program. What I have now is Lexar Memory Stick Duo Adaptor MSDAD, but it is too small to insert the 32 gb memory card. I want something simple, but I can use without losing the memory card inside the computer port. Your suggestions?
Andrew R  I'm not sure I understand your question. This CompactFlash card reader may be used either stand-alone (plugged directly into a USB port via the appropriate cable) or may be plugged into the matching 4 bay hub that Lexar makes for this product. This reader is for CompactFlash (CF) cards only and is not compatible with other card types.
Nellie P  I need a Lexar 32 gb memory card reader (card is used with a canon camera). I want it to insert into the computer port as an adaptor so I can download photos. The Lexar reader I have now is too small to fit the 32 gb. memory card. What should I get?
FRED I  Hi. This product is really designed to be used with the Lexar Four-Bay USB 3.0 Reader Hub - However, it does in fact come with a USB cable and it can be used as a stand-alone device. This is a very good product and I have been very pleased with it since I purchased it.
