Lyson Daylight Darkroom Quad Black Ink Cartridge, Replaces the Light Cyan Cartridge on the Epson Stylus Photo 2200 Inkjet Printer.

Printing high quality black and white images using a normal color inks on an inkjet printer has always been a difficult task. With the standard CYMK process that most printers employ, balancing levels of black in a monochromatic image isextremely difficult.

The fact is that color defects are normally present within the grayscale; for example, if a neutral black is achieved for shadow detail, magenta or cyan often creeps into the mid-tones. The result is a black and white that's never quite right, and this has been a longstanding concern of photographers using digital processes for black and white prints.

Lyson addressed this problem with the introduction of the first inkjet inks specifically designed for black and white-the Lyson Quad Black ink range. The recent introduction of seven color printers such as the Epson 7600 and 9600, and eight color inkjet printers such as the Epson 4000, has expanded the possibilities for black and white printing.

The extra channels available on these new machines make it possible to achieve more levels of gray and toning effects. Lyson provides photographers with what they have long desired - the ability to accurately mirror traditional darkroom techniques, including silver printing.

All Lysonic Quad Black inks have an extremely long life without noticeable fade in average indoor display conditions. Lyson's own testing indicates that Quad Black prints exceed the display life of most traditional silver halide images. Independent testing has been carried out by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc.indicating an estimated display life of in excess of 100 years in average indoor display conditions without noticeable fade on some media combinations. It is recommended that cleaning cartridges be used before introducing Daylight Darkroom inks into a printer for the first time. When you start using Daylight Darkroom, you will be assured that you are producing fade resistant prints immediately, because the cleaning cartridges will remove any previous traces of the original ink from your system.

The Cleaners will also eliminate any cross contamination occurring between the two ink products, alleviating any possible head blocking problems. The cleaning Cartridges clean the printer's head mechanism as well, maintaining the best print quality.
