Be mindful of your exposure

The ISO of this stuff is somewhere in the neighborhood of 150-200, and it's slightly higher than the original SX70 film. Therefore: 1. Don't expect to get any sharp pictures in low light. f/8 at ISO 150 in low light leads to some mighty lengthy exposure times 2. Be very careful in better light that you adjust your exposure compensation a bit towards the realm of darkness. I honestly can't talk about the quality of this film in ideal conditions since I got two overexposed shots thanks to point #2 and six very long exposures thanks to point #1. That being said, the long-exposure shots have a beautiful dreamy quality to them (although they verge on monochromatic despite this being advertised as color film) that I kind of love, and it's not like people are buying Polaroid SX70 film in 2013 to get 100% accurate image rendition. My other big complaint is that you only get eight frames per pack. Come on, Impossible, just stick a couple more frames in there and charge us an extra six bucks so the frame counter works properly.

Color me impressed

Shooting with the Impossible Project film ain't cheap so I've been holding off on purchasing anything from IP until my small store of Polaroid film had run out. Well that happened a while ago, but I still held out because I wasn't convinced about the formula. In the meantime I got an Instax camera and shelved my SX-70. I finally got back to the SX-70 this month with the new PX-70 Color Protection formula. I was still very hesitant about trying the film out because I was not impressed by any of the results I saw online (looked either too blue or two orange). It took me two days to finish the pack. I could have easily finished it in a few minutes, but I was able to practice some self-control. The film is great. The colors don't look like much like those from the Polaroid 600 film (I never used the Time Zero film), but I still like them. It's a different look. Sometimes the effect is almost otherworldly. I used this with the two dial marks toward "darken" and the exposures look fine. Skin tones look interesting... They won't look natural with this film, but people look like they're glowing which is cool I guess. I got a pack stamped with 11*12 on it. I'm kind of scared to order a new pack because it still seems like there is a lack of consistency in results, but I guess I just have to suck it up. I don't have any other options for my SX-70 (bought some 600 on eBay, that did not turn out so well) and this is readily available. Unfortunately it is quite expensive. I am really happy with the results though so I suppose this pack was worth it. Oh, the film sheets from the pack weren't sealed completely so they leak blue and white chemicals on the back. It doesn't seem to affect the picture itself, but it is annoying. I don't know how long it takes for these chemicals to dry because it's been almost 4 days and they continue leaking. A quick Google search told me that this is still a common problem. Meh. One more thing. Of the 8 photos, 3 of them showed this very stark separation of chemicals. One of the pictures I attached (the one with the leaves) shows this, but I don't know if you'll be able to tell. About half way the chemicals seem different, one half is greener than the other. There's a definite line that results from the difference in color that's more visible when I am looking at the photos in my hand.
