Light and sturdy, mostly

Great for travel and short telephotos. Not so great for heavier (Canon 100-400L) teles for wildlife, even though the combination (with Canon 7D) is within its weight capacity. Used with image stabilization, it worked well with heavier tele. Fits securely, unlike my heavier tripod, in my Tamron Evolution pack and travels well.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I'm thinking about using this tripod with a Giottos ball head, which has a base diameter of 2 1/2 inches. My question is what is, what is the diameter of the base on these tripod legs?
SDESIGNS P  It doesn't matter what the diameter of the base is so much as the mounting bolt. The 3/8" is standard and is on both these sticks and the head. It'll work fine!

bob d  what head should I get for this tripod?
TAFFIE B  I use the Sunpak Pistol Grip Ballhead. It is quick release and I need that for birds and panning.
