I put it on and forget about it. It might break.

A great price for an item that can do so much to protect the LCD on my D80. Peace of mind at a great price. Can't be beat!

The Nikon BM-7 LCD cover does its job of protecting the LCD display on the back of the D-80 camera. It protects the LCD from scratches and breaks when something hard hits the back of the camera, potentially saving the LCD. Its design looks like an afterthought, not really well engineered into the camera design. It does break fairly often, I'm on my third, so bought an extra this time.

I normally lay the camera on its back when I put it down. As the sheild was getting scratched up, I would take it off if I was in bright sun and needed to use the rear screen. For the cost I should have purchased a replacement and spare sooner.

This is a brilliant addition to the Nikon D80. One thing I've had to do with all of my digital cameras is some form of protection for the LCD. In this case, Nikon has done it for us with this great protector. Yes, the plastic is susceptible to scratching, but I used my original one for well over a year before thinking of replacing it. When I pulled it off, the LCD was in perfect condition. For results like that, I'll pay [$] every year or two.

This is a great item to have to protect the your D80's LCD screen. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the clear plastic scratches with only "rough" skin from your fingers.

An inexpensive camera accessory that protects your camera from chips, gouges, dirt and scratches to the LCD monitor panel. Although the cover is not very durable and scratchproof, it is a far cheaper and more convenient solution than having to replace the monitor itself. I recommend buying at least one spare. I've never lost a cover, but I've had the same one in place for over 14,000 exposures when the bottom tab snapped off.

I'm ordering a couple of new Nikon D-80 LCD monitor covers. They are absolutely critical in protecting the monitor. The one I had lasted nearly two years, but had accumulated quite a few scratches. It has held up to quite a lot of banging and rubbing against other items in my backpack. I'm very satisfied, even though the price seems high for a simple piece of plastic. Incidentally, mine has yet to fall off, although the ones I've had on my D-70 always seem to disappear.

Protection of the LCD--a key component of the camera--is extremely important. Value of the camera plummets if your LCD is severely scratched. This product prevents almost any scratch from occurring, as long as the protector stays on. To use, simply snap the LCD protector over the display. Herein lies the problem. I gave it four stars instead of five because it will eventually either snap off or fall off repeatedly. Its great while it lasts, but if you heavily use the particular body (as much as professional might) you put the protector on, expect to buy around 3 or 4 of them to last you a year. For the casual user, however, for the lifetime of the camera, I would expect one would only need the single protector included standard with the camera, or perhaps one backup, too.

Bought this to replace the factory BM-7 which broke while I was trying out camera bags for my nikon d80 plus battery grip. I knocked the back of the camera into my elbow while pulling the camera out and the screen protector cracked. The BM-7 does protect the screen but after having the camera six months and carrying/using daily is not only cracked half way down from top but shows scratces. But that is what its for! The price is a little high for something you could be replacing 2-4 times a year.
