Equipped with battery and memory card, the total weight is just over 1 pound. Much easier on the neck for long duration!

I've only used this camera once at length--at a festival that included my godaughter. I was very pleased that I did not have to carry around my my larger digi and ease of use. My only disappointment was that Nikon did not include a full user manual but a CD instead. I'm not finding that very convenient to carry around if I need to figure out something out on the street and I really hate to print out about 300 pages.

I bought this as a back-up to my D700 and probably shouldn't have. It performs ok but the focus is soft most of the time and it struggles in low light. It is nice and compact when travelling

I have had and still have some of the better 35mm cameras including a real nice 9000 Series Minolta. I most recently have used an Olympus digital camera similar to this one, but really like this Nikon the best. My daughter has a Sony Digital SLR which she uses for professional work. I would make this real close in quality and the price is substantially less. Long shots are great with this camera.

I thought the zoom would be great to have since I do landscapes/wildlife alot,,but it isn't a hand held type camera for that far of zoom..A tripod is a must, which I don't carry with me all the time. It fit well in my hands, but not happy with the images, lots of noise and grainy in alot of my photo's. I went back to my old sony for the same shots and they turned out much much better.
