About Nikon P510

The Nikon Coolpix P510 Digital Camera (Black) offers a massive telephoto zoom range, starting quite wide at 24mm and telescoping 42x to 1000mm (35mm equivalent focal lengths). This range will enable you to shoot comfortably in tight indoor spaces and capture wide landscapes, while giving you the long reach to capture wildlife, sporting events and much more. Throw in its special Smart Portrait mode and Easy Panorama (360Deg. & 180Deg.) modes and the P510 makes a breeze of pretty much every type of shooting.

That powerful Nikkor lens is backed by a 16.1 Mp sensor that will capture all the detail that the glass can collect. Its undeniable versatility makes the P510 a bridge between standard point-and-shoot models and higher-end interchangeable-lens models. With its comfortable side grip and tilting 3" LCD monitor, the camera allows you to operate confidently and comfortably handheld and at low and high angles.

With its massive telephoto reach, you'll be well-served capturing aerial and terrestrial beasts from afar - and with the P510's integrated GPS you'll be able to record your shooting location; the camera's geo-tagging function serves as something of an automated travelogue. If still photography's not enough for your expedition, the camera captures Full HD 1920 x 1080p video with stereo audio.

best camera meets all my needs

from Naperville, IL  -  Photo Enthusiast

I was disappointed at a few cameras I had before. I never was able to capture a picture when my kids were moving. After months of research and comparison, I bought this camera and very happy with the quality of the pictures taken from this camera. Yesteday was my daughter's high school graduation day. I was able to catch the precious moment of shaking hands from far far away. I showed the pictures to the other family members and they wanted to buy this camera too.

Excactly what i wanted to have!

from MD  -  Photo Enthusiast

It's great camera, generally small, amazing zoom and the battery lasts for long, if you don't use zoom all the time. Nice selection for a traveller who doesn't need to carry a big thing as his camera.

Great camera for the $

from Port Saint Lucie, Florida  -  Casual Photographer

As you read the quick start guide practice to learn the various features. When shooting If you sort of press your eye into the viewfinder you will find that the image will become clearer. Monitor is a bit small, prefer to use viewfinder for shooting and review. Nice overall feel in hands

This product works great the the amateur photographer. It has multiple functions that work on any picture setting and does great with video recording as well. Couldn't beat the cyber monday price either. Well worth the wait while it was on back order.

Great midline camera

from Tampa, FL  -  Quality Oriented

I love this camera, I wanted something that was simple with great zoom that took decent pictures but not too pricey, this camera was a perfect fit. I have a cousin in consumer reports, who I would normally consult before buying something like this, said I made the best choice.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Can any filter be put on this lens to protect it from scratching, such as a skylight filter or polarizer?
JAMES R  I returned it and decided on a Canon SX40HD. The SX40HD doesn't have threads for filters but there is a lens hood available for that model. Both cameras are great, for what they were designed for, so you have to look at the features of each, and weigh the pluses and minuses. In my case, the P-510 did not have a flash hot shoe, shorter battery life, and not as sensitive to light because of the higher pixel count. Canon reduced the pixel count from 14 to 12 making it a little better on sensitivity.
Shopper  do we have lens attachment facility in nikon P510???
GARY K  I may be misunderstanding your question here but the Nikon P510 has a fixed lense which is not interchangable. It is a zoom lense capable of 42X power zoom "optical" and even more "digital" zoom power.
Joven S  Can I change the zoom lens into much higher version?
RANDALL S  No -- it is a fixed lens. Some point and shoot models offer auxiliary lens attachments but those are more typically for wide angle than telephoto. In my opinion this camera zooms way out and increasing it would add problems of camera shake, focus and exposure as the lens gets darker and darker as it is extended.
