Purchased for when I need to travel light. Works well as a bridge camera. Feature-packed. Panorama works well. Macro can get very close. In Manual can start at 80 ISO. Continuous burst of 7/sec for action captures the shot well. I would have liked 50x on a non-DSLR, but they never claim it to be DSLR. Full zoom is a little blurry on the edges, but a crop soon fixes that. 1080p @ 60 is quite acceptable, but since I only bought it for stills, its a bonus. Overall, it is a good entrant by Nikon. Tip: order some spare batteries and an external charger. To save battery I turned off GPS.
I use this camera to photograph jet engine conditions. When dealing with customers and conditions this camera does the job. It's easy to use but also gives you the ability to control each situation whether it be light or speed you need. Also video capable with a great resolution .
I own a Nikon SLR, and several point and shoot cameras. This bridge camera is great for most of what I do. I wish had bought this before my last point and shoot. It's too bulky for a pants pocket, but works well in a jacket pocket. The quality is good enough for large 20x30 prints in most situations. Wish it had RAW capability, but they have save something for the P530 I guess.
I use this product in my work environment; I am a Quality Engineer and I take pictures of the parts that have defects and send the back to our production facility. The Macro images are perfect and I can get an up close picture in Detail and it is lightweight. This Camera is so Good my company Quality Manager is buying 4 more of this same camera From Adorama. I have had this camera for only a month and have no negative comments at this time.
I have been shopping for a Nikon coolpix P5xx series camera for quite some time. A friend suggested Adorama. I had never heard of Adorama befor. I was very pleased with the purchase price plus I ended up getting a newer version of the camera I was looking for and a package deal which included a bag, extended warranty, spare memory card and battery and screen protectors. Im very happy wiyh the Coolpix P520, the controls are intuitive and the camera is comfortable in your hands and it has a solid quality feel to it.
I use it as an amateur photographer. It can take excellent Pictures of the Moon. It takes low light pictures. Zoom is incredible. 100% zoom - pixel level requires Tripod of high light levels, but 18mp*42 zoom is 4000 mm. I love it. Negatives: JPG algorithm. Normal is horrible, fine is bad. Nikon, it is only software- At least Give us a raw mode. Focus- at 42 zoom infinite focus is problematical Work around; press shutter key 1/2 aiming at something closer (than the Moon) and then back at your target, or down multi-function button and choose infinite- the mountain. If scene is very bright, use the thumb wheel to choose exposure mode -+ 1 I have taken pictures of flying birds and airplanes through the open sun roof. Real life Pics from ordinary people, facebook- P520 I did buy my wife one also!
This camera is easy to use, takes great low light pictures, has a fast shutter release, and surprisingly good optics for a 42x zoom. The directions tell the owner to charge the battery in the camera (which takes time away from usage taking pictures), but I bought a separate charger from Adorama which solved the problem.
Nice and light for birds
The best part of this camera is that the sensor produces an image with lots of detail. Also, the optics are surprisingly good for a camera with a 42x zoom. The shutter release is fast for a non-DSLR, and the camera can be operated with one hand. The "P" setting is displayed well for easy access. The foremost problem is that the battery has to be charged in the camera. Buy a backup battery! Another problem is that the menu and CD are written for geeks. This camera has features like "panorama" that are lost in the menu. Also, there is no way to attach a filter. Overall, this is a great camera but could be redesigned with more input from consumers.
