SO happy I bought a second 9500!

My wife saw how awesome the photos I took of the band Rush in concert with the 550 zoom. The images are simply amazing from such a small camera at such a long way from the stage. The video look excellent as well. WiFi problems....eeehh so what, wireless is a small matter compared to the quality of the images. Would rather have good wireless on my D800E.

I bought this little camera as an addition item to my Nikon's gadget bag because of is wi-fi capability with my Android tablets. I also teach to retirees on travel photography. The software need's fine tuning fast, as it is not very reliable compared with others I have tried. (Canon, Samsung) The camera itself feels good in your hands and is small enough. Please buy a hardshell case and do not use forced air to clean it as you may get dust inside and on your CCD. I teach using (4) P7000 and now I want to upgrade to smaller Wi-Fi cameras and tablets for my traveling students. Please Nikon developers, upgrade the software fast if you want to stay in the Wi-Fi small quality camera rating. The zoom is perfect, the body very good but lack dust protection, the battery is the worst part. I use it for bird watching with control from my tablets but battery life is very (very) short in Wi-Fi mode. I will need 4 more soon and I'm waiting to see what software upgrade is coming, otherwise I will buy some other brand.

Good camera, but could be more impressed.

By

from Colorado/California/Utah

Got this camera before going on a 2 year trip expecting it would be an excellent investment that would last me these next 2 years and thousands of photos. However less than a year in and this camera has terrible power issues. Sent it in twice to get repaired before it finally seemed to have the issue resolved and I discovered others have had similar issues with the type of battery used for this model and other models. The pictures are great quality but not my wildest dreams or anything. The protective case it came with also was a disappointment as I took my camera out and found the screen cracked. I would definitely look elsewhere to see what other options are available if this is in your price range. Something more dependable and higher quality is probably available. Still love Nikon cameras though.

Best Point and Shoot for the money

By

from Asheville NC

I spent hours researching and obsessing about a quality pocket camera on the internet. The Nikon S9500 had the best features, best reviews, best of everything including price. I have taken so many awesome photos with this handy camera. 22X zoom is awesome.

Nice Small Camera

Good little camera, not very user friendly however. Still not able to get the WI-Fi set up. Unsure if just my camera since was a refurbished model. Upgraded from my AW100

Time between Pics

By

from Undisclosed

I have just purchased a Coolpix S9500 and I find the time between taking a photo and the time that the camera is ready to take another, seems to be a long one. Can anyone advise on this please. I am currently using Auto mode.

So Happy!

By

from Undisclosed

I bought this camera for a trip to Tanzania and the Serengeti without knowing anything about it. I was thrilled with the pictures I captured, often from a moving vehicle. The videos were also wonderful. I will treasure these pictures for a lifetime. The camera is light, compact, and sooooooo easy to use, even for a novice. The pictures are clear and when enlarged are so clear that eyelashes can be seen on the giraffe and the fur and spots on a cheeta come into view. Did I say I was Happy?

This is my second coolpix camera. I never had a problem with the last one. This one has frozen on me 3 times during the first month of ownership. I have had to remove the battery each time

Ordered new camera and came apparently used

By

from Elkton, MD, USA

The camera was already set up with someone else's pictures and settings loaded. May have been used already. Waited two months to receive as it was backordered that long. The description should be more explicit that you have to buy an additional card to wifi load pictures to a standard computer. The installed Wi-Fi only works for ipads and smart phones. Had to purchase a eye-fi card to load pictures to my computer. Other than that it takes a really good picture. I wouldn't recommend it due to the inability to receive when you want it.

Very poor battery performance

By

from Tulsa, OK

This camera does not come with a dock. If left unplugged, the battery drains in a couple of days. The manual says not to leave fully charged battery plugged in. I do not handle my camera everyday. It is very annoying to pick it up and it be inoperable because of discharged battery. Features are nice.

Questions about this item:

Carol B  by mistake, I shot our entire vacation on the wrong "continuous" setting. I have 5 copies of every picture. Is there a way to upload only 1 of each to my computer?
Dan K  Hi Carol, Sorry I can't be of much help as I'm not familiar with the continuous setting; I almost always use the standard all purpose setting (green icon); you can either delete the extras on the camera or once there on your computer; I recommend once they are on the computer as it will be easier to select multiple images at one time to delete.
