Great camera and lens

I have just upgraded from a Nikon D7000 to the D610. I was considering the D7100 but decided to make the full frame plunge and glad that I did. Great camera. Had to spend some money to update some lenses but worth it in the long run.

Oil spots, Nikon has mine in their shop

Nikon does not have this figured out yet. They have been good about taking it in and logging it in for work, have not gotten it back yet but didn't buy a camera to 3 months later have it in the shop. Sent them pictures, they told me to clean and if still there, which it was to send to them. Should have sold all my Nikon stuff and gone to Canon. Disappointed.

Just as good

By

from Houston Tx  -  Pro Photographer

I am a professional photographer and have used many Nikon cameras and find the d610 to be just as good as any 800 models for most print size Low light it is great and the smaller focus point is not a problem for my shooting ,how often do most photographers us the out side focus point. I like this camera great tool

Great camera

By

from Phoenix  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I use this product for portraits and macro photography. The body size and weight are smaller than the D700 that I use as a back-up. This works best for me because I have small hands. The images are crisp, and the colors fantastic. The one thing that I don't is the selection wheel. It's difficult to move from one mode to another without using both hands. This is the only thing that bothers me about the camera.

Love This New Camera: A Low Light Champ

By

from Myrtle Beach South Carolina  -  Midrange Shopper

I am a professional photographer. I use the camera primarily to shoot theater productions and dance performances. The low-light capabilities of this camera, are astounding. Shooting at 1600/125 gives you pictures that are remarkably detailed. Everything about this camera is great except for one thing: IT IS NOISY!

D610

By

from Huntington Beach ,CA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I have owned a number of digital Cameras but this is my first full frame camera. I use it for work and for my own personal use. I looked at purchasing a more expensive D750. I rented both cameras before I decided what to buy and used both of them in the type of pictures I take. I settled on purchasing the D610 and it was well worth the money. Trying to purchase the D750 would really stretch the budget. However, I feel the D610 can fill all my needs, without breaking the bank . I only regret it does not have build in Wi-FI , the optional WU-1b mobil adapter in a pain but its usable . My only regrets with this camera is that I don't have a lot of full frame FX lenses, My DX lenses work with D610 camera but crops down the full frame . This somewhat defeats having a full frame camera. I only have one FX lens and it work great with the D610. The picture quality was great. If you purchase any full frame make sure you have money to purchase full frame lenses. If you are a Pro you may want to go with the upgraded D750 ,however, for the rest of us the D610 is a great camera and I recommend it.

Amazing piece of equipment

By

from Danbury, CT  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Coming from a Nikon D7100 for over a year I decided to sell it and buy this body since I already had my full frame lenses. Honestly I wasn't expecting much except having wider viewing angles being that this is full frame. The thing that really amazes me about this camera is the way it handles noise. I've been shooting with it for about four days and two events. I am truly amazed at the shutter speed and focusing system. I began to explore with D9/21/39 as my focus settings and I fell in love. This is specially handy when shooting moving subjects because it tracks the subject so well. I would not worry about having all the focus points compacted because it doesn't make much difference and you will honestly get used to it. Believe me, the D7100 that I came from had 12 MORE focus points which pretty much covered 70% of the viewing area but I easily became used to the compacted 39 in the D610. With the D7100 I had, I wouldn't dare go past ISO 800 without having to worry about significant noise issues. With my D610 I am comfortable to play with anything between 4000-6400. I shot a few frames with ISO 6400 then brought the exposure up by a full stop in Lightroom and was amazed at how much detail remained in the picture (see photo #2). I would HIGHLY recommend this to anybody switching to full frame (given that you have full frame lenses). I long debated whether I should buy this or save more money to buy the D750, but I must say I am truly happy with this camera.

Not the best in the line but beautiful.

By

from Irvine Ca,  -  Photography Student

To be of any value a person who reviews a product should be well qualified to do so. I am not a professional so I had to depend on experts in the field for their assessment. They were universal in giving me the confidence to buy a Nikon D 610. I am very happy with the camera. A subject I can attest to is the quality of the 'Users Manual' it is superbly thought out and has alleviated the fears I had in understanding the complexities of this unit. Take it one step at a time and don't leave the subject until you have mastered it.

Easy move from D7000 to full frame D610

By

from Fort Payne, Alabama  -  Photo Enthusiast

Since I upgraded a couple years ago from a D3000 to the D7000, I have planned on moving to a full frame at some point. With the exception of the Nikon 18-300mm I purchased for outdoor sports, the next four lenses I purchased were all FX. I have had the D610 for a couple weeks now and have taken about a thousand pictures. I have the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 and the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 (all purchased through Adorama). I have done portraits and landscapes and wow, the camera likes these lenses. The viewfinder is great - I have actually started to manually focus through the viewfinder becasue it seems much clearer than the D7000 where I mainly used live view when I had to manually focus. A lot of my pictures are taken indoors and I notice that I can live with an ISO of 6400 while I usually did not like going above 1600 with my D7000. I knew my D7000 inside and out and have had no trouble setting up the D610, the only learning curve for me is remembering that I don't have the 1.5 crop factor anymore. I was going to sell the D7000 and the Nikon 18-300mm but have decided to keep them to use for outdoor sports in good light and for when I want to get an equivalent reach of 450mm. To wrap up, I have to give it 5 stars at this point, it is everything I expected and more after researching the purchase for a year. I also want to thank Adorama for their next day service and the professionalism of their telephone sales staff. They always make me feel like a valued customer and I look forward to working with them in the future.
