The first Nikon FX-format camera, the D3, produced a quantum leap in digital photography that forever changed the way professionals are able to work. Now, with the launch of the second Nikon FX-format camera the Nikon D700 you can achieve, in a smaller, lighter design, many of those same extraordinary imaging feats that made the Nikon D3 an immediate legend. Like the D3, the D700 transcends the expectations of the world's leading photographers, in an agile body developed from the award-winning DX-format D300.
In soft, subtle lighting, it captures seductively smooth tones with astonishingly rendered detail easily. In low-lit situations, it delivers virtually poisefree images for impeccable results at up to ISO 6400 easily. And if you're faced with constantly changing lighting conditions, the D700 handles these complex exposure changes with ISO sensitivity auto control easily. When your day is long and demanding and you need to travel light, you'll appreciate this camera's portability, responsiveness and finely balanced handling.
And when you need more speed to capture a crucial moment, the D700 delivers with the option of a multi-power battery pack that gives you up to 8 frames per second, continuous shooting. Whether your subject's fast, slow or still, you'll capture it with tack-sharp precision using Nikon's exclusive 51-point AF system easily. Every aspect of the D700 has been carefully engineered, to provide you with the freedom to work efficiently and with the utmost sensitivity, as a natural extension of your personal vision.
The D700 achieves a remarkable distillation of the finest imaging performance digital photography can offer. The D700's 12.1-megapixel FX-format CMOS image sensor provides exceptional image quality throughout its remarkable ISO sensitivity range. A large pixel size of 8.45 µm allows for an extremely low signal-to-noise ratio and a wide dynamic range. The 12-channel readout enables accelerated information transfer, allowing the D700 to shoot at speeds of up to eight frames per second at full resolution (using the optional MB-D10 Multi Power Battery Pack) and quickly write image data onto the CompactFlash card.
The D700 offers a versatile base ISO range from 200-6400 but can be expanded to range from ISO 100 (Lo-1) to 25,600 (Hi-2) affording photographers the new-found confidence to shoot in the widest variety of lighting conditions from the brightest midday sun to dim interiors. Images previously thought to be impossible to create without complex lighting set-ups or lengthy post-processing are now captured easily and faithfully with the D700, unleashing new and diverse shooting possibilities
Absolutely loving my D700!!! I use it for portraiture, landscape and real estate photography. It has been a perfect upgrade from my D90.
The Nikon D700 DSLR was Nikon's first full frame sensor camera body. This camera's image quality is superb and the camera is still relevant today. With its 12 megapixel sensor, I have printed images that are 24" 36" with virtually no loss in resolution, as is the case of the photo below off a mosque in Instanbul, Turkey
Just recently picked up the D700 used and didn't know what I had been missing. I can shoot at FX format or if I want some longer legs I can shoot the DX format. rarely use the flash anymore. Can shoot beautiful ISO 3200 shots with my 80-400mm AF-D VR at high shutter speeds (+1/1000). Don't really need the VR at those shutter speeds. Summed up: Great camera with lots of life left.
This is the greatest DSLR ever made by anybody ever.
First of all, I love this camera. I've used the D800 and D700, and honestly, the D700 has a faster shutter speed and doesn't take up a huge amount of space with a ridiculous 36megapixel sensor. I bought this from Adorama, and I'm very pleased. The condition is nearly perfect and their customer service was excellent. I didn't receive some cables and a camera strap, but after emailing customer service, I received one in a few days! Thank you Adorama! I just recommended more friends to buy the D700 from Adorama.
I've been shooting with a Nikon D700 for several years. Nikon has discontinued this model, so I was very pleased to find a good used one. It's now my primary camera.
I shoot full time for a living and my gear needs to work under all kinds of conditions. Even though does not put a rating on their weather sealing, it seems to work.
Takes clear picture and it's easy to use Great for portraits nature and airshow pictures It's all good one of best camera on the market
This is a great high quality camera with wonderful features. It takes great photos.
This is my 4th D700. I shoot weddings so I need backups. My first D700 was bought in 2009 and is still in service today with over 218,000 actuations. It is tough to beat this camera. The low light performance is amazing and the dependability of the camera has yet to be matched.
