Light Lens

I haven't had many opportunities to use this lens yet. When I have used it I have been very happy with the image quality and the weight of the lens.

great optics for a low price!

The headline says it all. A light, friendly to use and nifty zoom.

Overlooked value

By

from Atlanta, GA  -  Pro Photographer

For the price, the lens body is no surprise. It's plastic and composite materials. The mount to the camera body is not metal. The lens shade must be purchased separately. BUT the optics exceed expectations. Sharp right up to the edge. Auto focus is fast. This is THE telephoto lens I will bring with me when I travel outside the country. It's so cheap it's almost disposable. It's so good it's almost pro quality. It's so light weight and compact it can travel in a vest pocket. I'm glad I gave this lens a chance.

Great second lens for Olympus

By

from Dover, PA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

This lens was a great add-on to my standard kit lens (14-42). This lens 40-150 (effectively 80-300) is great for landscape, portraits and sports work.

Good budget long zoom len

By

from Richmond, VA  -  Casual user

It's good for outdoor portrait and images are sharp even under poor light conditions. The only drawback is slow focus for video shooting.

Amazing for the price

By

from Bethesda Md  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

So, it is a plastic-mount, slow, not weather sealed, and cheaply made lens that delivers surprisingly good results. It is great for casual pictures and is very compact and light. If the lens was $500 I would give it three stars, but for less than $200 it gets four.

Cheap looking, great shooting

By

from San Francisco, CA  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

This is a lightweight, cheap telephoto zoom. The plastic exterior is not that great, except that it keeps the overall cost down. The zoom ring isn't particularly smooth, but the autofocus is very quick, and optically, it's quite good.

The housing on this lens is comparable to the 14-42 II R kit lens. Serviceable, but lightweight plastic. The picture it takes are quite nice though. Past 120mm or so it struggles a little bit. The mechanical action is a bit rough, but works. It's a low-cost telephoto zoom that fits the bill for someone like me, who doesn't use these longer lengths that often. It's a good bang-for-the-buck lens.

An All-around lens

By

This lens is my favorite with my OMD. It gives me the richest colors I've ever had in my photos and it is so lightweight. I am so pleased with this camera and the lenses I've purchased with it!

Questions about this item:

Tulia D  Does it fit an Olympus E-PM2 without the need for an adapter?
W.K. G  It is a micro four thirds lens mount, so I am sure it would. I am using it with a Oly. E-PL1
Shopper  Does it fit for Canon3Ti model camera?
STEVEN H  no, it won't
Shopper  Does this lens work on an Olympus E-P2?
KEITH J  I'm sorry that I can't help as I know nothing about the E-P2. I use this lens on an E-510 which is a four thirds system camera ( making lens equivalent to 80-300 mm) with built in stabilization system. If your camera is similar I am sure the Oympus mount is comptible.
