Digital photography demands more than the traditional optical designs of film lenses. Photographers want to be able to shoot not only stopped down but with the aperture wide open and know they will get sharp, detailed edge-to-edge sharpness. The Olympus E-System and Zuiko Digital LensesTM are designed to meet the everyday needs of professional photographers.

With digital specific lens designs and unrivaled optical elements, unsurpassed image quality is achievable in an interchangeable lens SLR system, no matter what aperture you choose. And an incredibly compact, lightweight design - based on the innovative Four Thirds System - provides you with the most versatile, high-performance interchangeable lens system you've ever experienced.

This compact and affordable medium telephoto Zuiko Digital Lens is ideal for not only macro photography but also as a portrait lens. The high performance digital specific design includes an ED glass element for impressive color accuracy and offers a magnification of 1:2 (half life size), which has an image magnification size equivalent to life size (1:1) in a 35mm film photo. A large 2.0 maximum aperture makes it excellent for lower-light photography as well.

The 50mm 2.0 Macro Zuiko Digital Lens features 11 elements in 10 groups, including an Extraordinary Dispersion glass element to minimize aberration and ensure sharp and accurate edge-to-edge detail.

Excellent for Macro Photography

Very sharp lens as nearly everyone reports. Coupling with EX-25 extension tube increases versatility. Excellent addition to my 4/3 lens collection.

Great Product

By

from Newport, NH  -  Photo Enthusiast

I bought this as a way to try out a new prime lens, buying it used. The lens arrived quickly after ordering it. (Adorama is one of the best online dealers I've dealt with). The lens itself is in mint condition, works like it is brand new.

Excellent lens

By

from Bethesda ,md  -  Photo Enthusiast

I just got this lens. Work well very clear pictures. I had read that it searches when focusing. Makes- Agrinding noise. It did that for me. This seemed to occur when the object is dark or with no clearly define edges. I always have used single point focusing. I tried multipoint focusing . The focusing was then extremely fast and appears to be accurate. And with out searching. I hope this holds up. Also tried five point pattern. Again, focusing was very fast and appears accurate and there was no searching. If the pics turn out well, and multipoint or 5point focusing give clear pics, ths lens will be one of the best if not the best that I own.

Stunning lens

By

Wonderful lens, stunning sharpness and microcontrast, gorgeous bokeh. Every manufacturer has their superstar lenses that have that little bit of magic in them. This lens has that magic. Works great on my E-M1 as a portrait lens too.

two lenes would'nt work

By

from Anacortes,WA.  -  Photo Enthusiast

I've ordered the Olympus 50 f/2.0 macro lens & the focusing ring didn't work. Sent it back for a new one & the focusing ring didn't work on it either. Sent it back still waiting on another one. Adorama has been very good at replacing this lens. I even called Olympus and explained the problem to them, they were no help at all they need to tighten up on quality control.

Great for portraits, closeups

By

from Lexington, MA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Non-zoom lens equivalent to 100mm focal length on a 35mm film camera. Since I already nave the great Zuiko 12-60 mm (= 24 to 120 mm) f2.8-4.0 lens, which has pretty good close focusing capability at the tele end, this lens does not add much new macro capability. But it's 2 stops faster, and only weighs half as much. This lens has great bokeh. I use it as a portrait and general walking-around lens. Since I shot 35mm film cameras for years with 90mm and 135mm lenses, I'm very comfortable with this one. The extra speed helps in low light or when shooting hand held with a polarizer or other filter that cuts down the light.

Wonderful lens

By

from Barbados  -  Photo Enthusiast

This is a wonderfully sharp lens with great bokeh. The shallow dof requies a bit of care with focussing, but gives great creative possibilities. A must have, especially at the price.

Why did I wait so long?

By

from Albuquerque, NM  -  Pro Photographer

This product was on my "wish list" for better than two years as I wanted to get back into Macro Photography. Now that I have it, I wonder why I waited. My results have been spectacular. I couldn't be more pleased. Also, this was my first purchase from Adorama. I was impressed with both their telephone customer service representative who answered all my questions and the On-line order process where I ultimately placed the order. I will certainly order from Adorama again.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ROD M  Wanted a macro lens and the Olympus Kit from Adorama was well worth the price, the 52mm UV filter was included.
Avi G  Is it fit E-450? I know there is 60mm macro len , what is better the 60mm ro 50mm ?
ALAN S  The 50mm F2 macro is compatible with your E-450 and is considered by many to be "Gold Standard" for optical performance in 4:3 lenses. The 60mm macro is not compatible with your E-450 being a micro 4:3 lens designed for the Pen and OM-D series cameras. Alan
Ida J  Can the Olympus Zuiko 50 mm f/2.o E-ED digital macro lens be used with the Olympus PEN PL-1 camera?
ROD M  Ida, The Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/2.0 E-ED macro lens is a very great lens and Adorama's kit is well worth the price. I enjoy using this lens and I'm happy that I purchased the lens with Adorama's kit. Now to your question, you would need to purchase the Olympus MM-2 Adapter to use the standard 4/3 Zuiko ED lenses with the micro 4/3 cameras. All of the reviews I have read about the Pen Micro 4/3 cameras can use this adapter. Check Adorama's products page and in the search box under the New Products enter the SKU info IOMMMF2. It will then take you to the MM-2 adaptor and its info. For more information, call Adorama and talk with one of their sales people. I know that they will give you the best information. I hope that this will answer your question. I have called Adorama's sales and have gotten very good information, and I am pleased with the products I have made after talking with them.
