Remarkable for a tiny light flash

I was surprised to find that the flash was capable of providing as much light as it did. Admittedly, I had to add anywhere from 0.8 to 1.2 exposure stops using Lightroom 5.2 to get the pictures to a better light level. Still, that is easily done with software, and the flash did a reasonable job, using the 14-150mm Olympus lens, during an indoor evening party. Nor did it hesitate, nor was the recycle between pics particularly noticeable. I was pleased. It is, however, not meant to be a flash...

The flash came for free with my OM-D E-M1. It is small and of limited use. Its size is its biggest weakness: the two AAA batteres provide very little power and the flash is anemic. I use the little camera mounted flash that came with my E-M1 to trigger the FL-300R remotely and it works fine. Inside the flash does a reasonable job lighting up a small room, but it already reaches its limits when bounced off the ceiling. I'd rank it slightly higher than my in-camera flash on my DSLR. The flash tilts up and down, but does not rotate. It comes with a cloth bag, which holds the flash and its little plastic stand. There is enough space to add a few filter foils, but that's about it. In addition: my unit may be defective: it drains the battery within a few hours. I hope its a defect and not a "feature".

Small enough to carry along everywhere

Nice light weight, compact speed light to accompany my Olympus E-PL5. The fact that it has TTL remote is a bonus. The GN 20 is adequate for most of my needs (I usually shoot flash @ ISO 400-800).

Nice flash, but...

It's a nice small flash that I use off-camera in RC mode with a clip-on flash on my Olympus Pen E-PL5. I originally bought it thinking it could be used on-camera as a master/commander in RC mode to trigger a FL-36R flash off-camera. It can't. It would have been perfect if it could. But, still, it's a nice unit that fits easily into a pocket.
