So, I bought the Olympus TG820 as a family camera - to be used by my wife, two sons (6 and 2), and me...at the beach, the pool, and the park. The strap was purchased partly for it's floaty qualities, partly because it is very handly as a wrist strap, but mostly because you can see it from 40 yards away!! It is a great tool for NOT losing the camera when the little monsters walk off on a photo safari and leave it where they get distracted!!
I bought this strap so my Olympus TG-2 won't sink to the bottom of the pool/sea when I use it to shoot in these locations. The strap does hold up the camera well when you drop it on the water. It does a nice job as a floatation device. The red color makes it pop out of the water so it's easy to see where it is and you can easily grab it or hook it in for retrieval. I like the nice snap-on feature so I can remove the strap when I dont need it as it is rather bulky. While the loop is adjustable, it is not big enough to fit over your head and around your neck. The loop is big enough to fit your arm through and that's about it.
