About Olympus

The Olympus MMF-3 Four Thirds Mount Adapter is a dust - and splashproof lens mount adapter makes it possible to mount any existing Four Thirds lens on a Micro Four Thirds standard-compliant digital camera, including Olympus OM-D Series and Olympus PEN Series models. Because of its weathersealing, this adapter is preferable to the earlier MMF-2 and MMF-1 if you will be shooting in inclement or uncertain weather. It is ideal for getting the most value out of your weathersealed and Super High Grade Four Thirds-compliant lenses.

AF shooting using Live View is possible with lenses featuring contrast AF compatibility. When a contrast AF incompatible lens is used, the AF assist function engages.

Does what it says

This is an adapter for using older E-1 through E-5 Zuiko Digital lenses on the E-M1. It works fine with all of my 4/3 lenses and does what it says.

Functional but costly

This certainly does the job, but Olympus charges a premium for essentially adding a tiny o-ring to the adapter. Fittings are all metal.

Adorama used Demo unit arrived flawless

By

from Westford, MA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I wanted to save some money and bought this one through Adorama's used stock. This one was marked "D" which I believe is for store display/demo units. Arrived very quickly and was in pristine shape. Great way to get good gear and save a few bucks that can be spent on other stuff. I will definitely buy used from Adoroma in the future when possible. The adapter itself is a bit overpriced (by Olympus) for what it is, which is basically a plastic and metal tube adapter with pass through contacts. I know you can buy cheaper third party knockoffs of these adapters, but the MMF-3 is weathersealed as is my camera and lenses, so didn't want to go cheap with a third party adapter that wasn't weathersealed. The adapter is very lightweight as it is mostly plastic but also seems very solid when mounted. There is no play between adapter and camera nor between lens and adapter. Everything is tightly coupled but still attaches and detaches smoothly.

Does what it needs to.

It bridges the gap that Olympus created when it stopped making E series cameras. Allows the use of all my pro quality 43 lenses on Pen size m43 bodies when I want to travel light. The only concern I have is balance and weight issues on the adapter and Pen body with the larger and heavier glass attached.

Solid fit for 4/3 lenses

By

Although not cheap the excellent fit provides better results than the cheap aftermarket adapters. If you invest in high quality lenses don't lose their performance due to a loose fitting adapter.

Can now use my 4/3 lenses

By

from Georgetown, TX  -  Semi-Professional

Enjoying using my Olympus 12-60 and 70-300 lenses with my OMD5 and EM1. A really nice viewfinder that's easy for me to see what I'm photographing unlike my E-620. Sometimes takes a while to get sharp focus. Don't now how good that would be with moving subjects. Haven't tried that yet. However, I'm definitely keeping it.

Range Expander

By

from Bayonne, NJ  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I started using digital capture with Olympus products because they did not cobble a digital camera from an existing 35mm body. They came out with a new design for their product. That being the case, I have a lot of 4/3 lenses. This adapter lets me use the 4/3 lenses on my micro 4/3 camera.

Questions about this item:

PATRICIA D  does this allow the use of the 1.4x EC-14 teleconverter on the mini camera's with the older len's only and not an R zoom lens ?
GARY B  Hey Patricia, this is a very good adapter, however if you do not need the splash and dust-proof you get the same performance from the mmf2. I have both and tell no difference in performance. It appears they only added a little "O" ring to the mmf3. Hope this helps
Shopper  I have several minolta lenses as well as a few sigma lens will this adapter work with them?
TERENCE C  I don't believe Minolta mounts (& Sigma, if it's the same as the Minolta mounts) are compatible with this Adapter, which is only compatible with a four thirds lens. If the mount on the Sigma lens is made for Canon or Nikon, third party adpaters are available. But I'm not aware of any third party converters from the Minolta mount to micro 4/3's.
