About Olympus

The Olympus PT-050 Underwater Housing for XZ-1 Camera allows you to take your XZ-1 under the waves, all the way down where the water pressure reaches the equivalent of 140' (40 m). All of the compact camera's controls - such as zoom and flash mode - remain accessible, thanks to housing that was designed especially for this camera model.

For generating the necessary supplemental light underwater, the housing features an optical connection for attaching a cable to an underwater strobe, so you can slave your outboard flash (not included) to your internal one. For softening and spreading out the effect of the camera's internal flash, the PT-050 includes an attachable diffuser.

The PT-050 case is constructed of durable polycarbonate, so your XZ-1 will be protected on land as well as underwater. The PT-050 includes everything you need to take the plunge with the XZ-1, including a hand strap, an O-ring, a diffuser, a silica gel pack, silicone grease, an LCD hood and a lens cap for the housing.

Nice Underwater Housing

By

from Jakarta, Indonesia  -  Photo Enthusiast

This is my first underwater housing, but when paired with the Olympus XZ-1, it makes for a very compact, portable, travel-friendly set-up. I used it on a recent dive to Bunaken, in North Sulawesi, Indonesia and it was problem free. I made sure to follow the directions to the letter, always washed and re-lubricated the o-ring after every dive, did all the pre-dive checks, and I never experienced a single leak on any of my 7 dives. Maximum depth I used this at was 25 meters (around 80 feet). Also, I like that I'm able to access and use all of the camera's functions with this housing. All in all, a good housing. Lastly, I like that I'll have the ability to add on wet lenses later, thanks to the 67mm threaded port. I've attached a few pics I took with the camera/housing combo. Please keep in mind that these are my first underwater photos ever, and were essentially shot in available light (no external strobe used.)
