About Panasonic 14-42mm Mirrorless

The Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5/5.6 Asph. / MEGA O.I.S. Lens with a 35mm format focal length of 28-84mm is constructed with 12 elements in 9 groups and 1 aspherical lens to produce extremely sharp images with minimal fringing and color distortion across the entire focal range. It incorporates Panasonic's Mega O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) which employs gyro sensors built into the lens to suppress the blur caused by a shaky hand and enables capturing clear and sharp images even in low-light situations.

Utilizing an inner-focus system driven by a stepping motor, the superior optical design supports continuous high-speed contrast autofocus (AF) and autoexposure (AE) functions for both photos and movies of Lumix G and other Micro Four Thirds system cameras.

The Panasonic 14-42mm Mirrorless is commonly used for Landscape/scenery and more.

Panasonic 14-42mm Mirrorless Features

  • Continuous AF / AE function that supports for both photos and movies
  • MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) - Panasonic's advanced hand-shake correction technology
  • Minimum focus distance of 1' (30 cm) over the entire zoom range
  • Contrast AF system support

Good enough

I don't know anything about cameras. Just getting started in it all with the Panasonic GF3. It seems ok though.

Lumix 14-42 Review

Purchased this product mostly for shooting video. If used for stills I would say that it would be fine, however for shooting video this lens is terrible. It hunts for focus constantly going in and out of focus. The only way to use this lens is in manual mode where your subject never moves. This lens is a disappointment and completely unacceptable for a kit lens. That being said, I do have Panasonic lenses that I think are excellent this however is not one.

i don't use it now

By

Hello, I have a panny GF1 and the 20mm pancake, which I guess has spoiled me. but this new lens feels cheap and slow, it's terrible in low light, nothing but blurry photos for me, so I gave up on it, and the lens is gathering dust on my desk... also i ordered it online and Adorama shipped it UPS which is always a big rip off when it gets to your door, they add some sort of 'carrying charge'... sometimes they lie and says it's duty, and other times they admit it's just a UPS charge.. but I try never to use UPS, and so should Adorama.

I use it as freely shooting. It is good for the picture, but the optical zoom in is below my expectation

A good lens that makes GF3 much more convenient to use!

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Will this work on an Olympus Pen E-PL1?
MARC S  Yes, Panasonic and Olympus designed the Micro Four-Thirds standard together, the Olympus cameras however had in-body image stabilization so I don't believe you can use the lens image stabilization with an Olympus body, but I'm not sure.
