Learn about the PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 45-150MM F/4-5.6 G-BLACK MICRO 4/3

Designed for the Panasonic LUMIX G-series of DSLM cameras, the PANASONIC LUMIX G 45-150mm f/4-5.6 MICRO 4/3 is a little bit more than an ordinary lens. Sure, it’s got the standard stuff, including aperture blades, optical elements and the like. But it’s also ideally suited for that particular brand of camera, offering a high level of quality video footage with minimal distortion and blurring. When you match a camera to a lens perfectly, the result can often be quite astonishing. Adorama has already shown you many products from the Panasonic line, but it’s when you pair this particular lens with the LUMIX G series that you truly start to see what good photography equipment is capable of.

Product Highlights
  • Intricately designed, you’ll find 12 optical elements in 9 groups with one Ultra High Refractive Index lens and two aspherical lenses. What’s the point of all this intricacy? Try minimized distortion and maximized sharpness, with high-contrast shots that look about as crisp as anything you can shoot these days. And what’s more, there are seven aperture blades creating naturalistic, rounded background blurring, and a multi-coated lens element that lets light pass quite directly to the sensor, reducing flaring and other aberrations that seasoned photographers are all too familiar with.
  • Focus. It’s good advice in life, but for a camera lens, it’s the only advice. And the Panasonic 45-140 heeds the advice well with a near-silent autofocus mechanism that includes a stepping motor system. Thanks to all of these inner focus machinations, you’ll be able to pair your Panasonic 45-140 with a Panasonic LUMIX G-Series camera and obtain some of the best-quality video available to home, amateur and even professional photographers—all with minimal blurring thanks to the ever-quiet, ever-present autofocus system going on behind the scenes.
  • Let’s talk image stabilization. The Panasonic 45-140mm has it in droves thanks to Panasonic’s MEGA O.I.S., an optical image stabilizer that will neutralize any potential camera shake, even when you’re working in low light or high zoom. It’s basically a way for you to avoid “human error” as much as possible, especially if you get nervous when it’s time to take those once-in-a-lifetime shots that you’ll never want to miss.
  • Lightweight, this medium-zoom lens can come along just about any journey and you can go on, shooting photos and video to your heart’s content. The 90-30mm equivalent focal length allows for this versatility, while the construction of the lens itself means that you won’t have to lug it around. Instead, at just 7.1 ounces, this lens is about as light as any compact lens you’ll find out on the market today.
  • Pair it with the Lumix G series of cameras to get the most out of this lens. The Lumix G-series has a stellar reputation in the photography world thanks to high processing power and startlingly vivid imagery—it’s only appropriate that you use a lens like the Panasonic 45-140 to feed some quality light into those cameras.

Keep browsing Adorama to get the right pairing for this lens and make the most out of every shot you take with the PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 45-150mm f/4-5.6 MIC 4/3 lens.

From the Manufacturer
Panasonic LUMIX G Vario 45-150 mm f/4.0-5.6 ASPH Lens (Black) is a versatile medium zoom range lens designed for the Panasonic LUMIX G series DSLM (mirrorless) cameras and is especially functional when shooting video with your camera. With a 35 mm format equivalency of 90-300 mm, it is a great lens to have for shooting nature, kids at play, street shots and portraits. For its extensive zoom range it comes in a compact, light-weight body that is easily carried and installed on your G series camera.

The lens is comprised of 12 optical elements in 9 groups with one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens and two aspherical lenses to minimize distortion and heighten sharpness. The seven aperture blades produce smooth, attractive out-of-focus areas and a multi-coated lens element allows light to pass more directly to the sensor, which reduces flaring.

The LUMIX G Vario 45-150 mm includes a stepping motor system which makes the focusing action smoother and almost silent which is ideal when shooting video, as you want the smooth focus transitions and do not want to record a zooming sound on top of your recorded audio. The inner focus system of this lens produces excellent resolution and contrast and utilizes the high-speed, high-precision Contrast Auto Focus system when used with the LUMIX G Micro System line of cameras. Also incorporated into this lens is Panasonic's MEGA O.I.S. which is an optical image stabilizer that neutralizes the effect of camera shake when shooting in low light or with high zoom.

Not bad for video.

I used this lens on the Panasonic GH3 to film a graduation ceremony. It performed beautifully, was light and easy to use. Is it "professional"? Definitely not, but for DVD/Blu-ray production it performed above my standards.

ecellent inexpensive tele zoom lens

from Seattle  -  Semi-Professional

This lens is ideal for hand held tele shots. It is light and easy to zoom.

Well worth the money

from Winfield, KS  -  Semi-Professional

I purchased this as used at very good price. I was surprised by the build quality of the lens considering the price. Mostly metallic and not entirely plastic. Although it lacks the sharpness of the fast prime, it is a very good lens for casual shooting and video recording. I use it with Lumix G5.

Great all around lens

from St Paris, OH  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

This is a good lens to take out with you if you are shooting mainly outdoors, traveling, or in good light. Doesn't feel any heavier than the kit lens.

Great lens for the money

from Bellingham, WA  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

I've had this lens for only two weeks now but have managed to use it everyday in a variety of situations from nature, landscapes, an outdoor nighttime concert, close ups and people at a party. It has surpassed my expectations for the price. The zoom operation is smooth and the images I've taken are clear even at low light at higher ISO(1600-3200) on my Panasonic DMC-G5. I've read some complaints about low light performance but it performs like I would expect a lens with a max aperture of f/4.0-5.6 to perform. If low light is your main concern there are plenty of faster lens out there for micro 4/3 if your willing to pay the price. If your looking for a good all around zoom that won't break the bank I'd recommend this one.

Small but mighty

from Old Brooklyn Oh.  -  Photo Enthusiast

I bought am m4/3 camera for it's size and image quality and I have always believed that a camera is only as good as the glass you use! I needed a longer lens for some wildlife photos I wanted to take. Though this lens was not the most expensive of choices it preforms very well and meets my needs! If I was shooting more low light photo's I would want to move up to the 35-100 f/2.8.good glass for the price.
