I bought a new TS3 and mine leaked right away. I had read, before buying the TS3 that seals need yearly replacement (they call it packing but it means the orange seal on the battery/mem card door). I read that the unit cannot be shockproof and waterproof at the same time. I rinsed it off in fresh water each time. I used the little brush to clean the seals any time to door was opened. I understood it all.I figured "I'm more careful than most and I will heed these warnings and it's a quality product so I'll get it because I like that it's good to 40 ft while others are only good to 33 ft."Didn't matter though .. it leaked on it's first trip, never mind that I was super careful in the handling of this unit. In my case the door seal didn't leak but the screen leaked and went out .. and the unit continued to take pictures.Weeks after I sent it in for warranty repair they finally got back to me stating that the seals worked and the unit passed their pressure test so IT HAD TO BE MY FAULT .. I was guilty in their eyes. I told them that only seal I can control is the door seal and it didn't leak. If the door seal would have leaked the camera would have shorted out and died. Instead it kept taking pictures. The battery and mem card stayed bone dry. Then they proceeded to try to sell me another camera .. really! The warranty dept's stance is "there is water in the camera, it's your fault". Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT IF A WARRANTY MEANS ANYTHING TO YOU. Really in every way (communication with the customer, time to repair, etc) Panasonic's customer service is just horrendous. Someone needs to clean house down in McCallen Texas. To learn more go to [@] and check out all the 1 and 2 star reviews on the the TS3 and 4

It is my favorite camera, because it can be used in many situations, as it is portable, waterproof and has a wide angle lens.

oneway camera

By

from Vienna

I bought the camera for my snorkeling holidays but at the first snorkeling trip and after 20 pictures the camera stopped working. Water was in the camera. I handeld the camera with care, I read the manual carefully and I didn't anything wrong. Panasonic refuses guarantee service because they says I did something wrong with the camera. That is not true - the camera is just not OK and I want my money back.

My take on the DMC-TS4

By

from Temple, TX

The good is the camera takes very good to excellent pictures. The bad is charging via USB is not an option. The ugly is the price and the supporting software. Picture options are well represented. Some decent SLR's do not have as many settings or options for precision or situation shooting. The bad is the lack of a second battery. One would think for the cost of the unit and the inability to charge via USB a second battery would be provided. The Supporting software should not have been mentioned honestly. It is subpar to the quality of the camera and takes away from the experience. I have not had any issues arise to need customer support so I cannot comment on that aspect.

DMC-TS4 3 months out

By

from Temple TX  -  Photo Enthusiast

Kayaking and on the water activities was the prime reason for the purchase of this camera. Solid and fits well in the hand, A little heavy though. Rock Solid pictures both long and short distances. Panning and zoom work without a hitch. Many options on this camera I do not have on my SLR

Leaks

By

from Honolulu, HI

I followed the instructions as well. After using it 4 times snorkeling...the screen started to flicker in and out. It's a cool camera with nice features...I just don't think it's made to handle the claimed specs. The screen has come back and I'll give it another try. Hopefully it doesn't leak again.

Disappointed

By

from riverdale, california

I bought this camera last June 2012 thinking that I can use it underwater in preparation of me and my husbands trip. Last saturday tried using it underwater and to my dismay water leakage occurred. I wonder how it happened when I was very sure that I did all the check all that there is to check before using it underwater. In fact I studied the manual very well. Now my camera is at the service center and I dont know if it can be fix. And I lost the opportunity to capture our underwater experience.

TS3 was better

By

from UTAH

I have owned the TS2 and the TS3. They both had great features like HDR mode and high speed burst mode. The TS4 does NOT have these modes. This is very disappointing. The GPS works much faster and the images quality is still very good. I am sad to say that not having the HDR and High Speed burst modes, I may return this camera and get the older TS3. Panasonic, PLEASE fix this with a simple firmware update.
