It adopts GPS, compass, altimeter and even barometer to show and record altitude, barometric pressure and orientation data. The barometer also works for indicator for depth underwater.

Panasonic DMC-TS4 Features

  • Waterproof: With waterproof performance to a depth of 12m equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard, the DMC-TS4(FT4) supports active shooting on a beach, underwater or in a pool. If the camera gets dirty, soil and dust can be washed off by using water
  • Shockproof: The DMC-TS4(FT4) is shockproof from a height up to 2m in accordance with the "MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock" test standard. It lets you shoot actively while moving around with the camera in one hand
  • Dustproof: The DMC-TS4(FT4) is dustproof equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. While hiking or playing sports, fine dust particles can enter through gaps in the camera body and cause malfunction. The DMC-TS4(FT4) can be used in these activities without problems

DMC-TS4 3 months out

Kayaking and on the water activities was the prime reason for the purchase of this camera. Solid and fits well in the hand, A little heavy though. Rock Solid pictures both long and short distances. Panning and zoom work without a hitch. Many options on this camera I do not have on my SLR

Convenient, easy to use, quality pics

It is my favorite camera, because it can be used in many situations, as it is portable, waterproof and has a wide angle lens.

Great Camera

By

This camera has been great so far. It has good video and picture quality. I'm still learning how to use all the features, but i'm glad this was the camera I chose.

oneway camera

By

I bought the camera for my snorkeling holidays but at the first snorkeling trip and after 20 pictures the camera stopped working. Water was in the camera. I handeld the camera with care, I read the manual carefully and I didn't anything wrong. Panasonic refuses guarantee service because they says I did something wrong with the camera. That is not true - the camera is just not OK and I want my money back.

My take on the DMC-TS4

By

The good is the camera takes very good to excellent pictures. The bad is charging via USB is not an option. The ugly is the price and the supporting software. Picture options are well represented. Some decent SLR's do not have as many settings or options for precision or situation shooting. The bad is the lack of a second battery. One would think for the cost of the unit and the inability to charge via USB a second battery would be provided. The Supporting software should not have been mentioned honestly. It is subpar to the quality of the camera and takes away from the experience. I have not had any issues arise to need customer support so I cannot comment on that aspect.

Leaks

By

I followed the instructions as well. After using it 4 times snorkeling...the screen started to flicker in and out. It's a cool camera with nice features...I just don't think it's made to handle the claimed specs. The screen has come back and I'll give it another try. Hopefully it doesn't leak again.

Yes it is VERY Waterproof

By

We use this camera mounted to our paddles and snap photos whilst running class III ~ V whitewater. The camera spends the entire time wet.

Disappointed

By

I bought this camera last June 2012 thinking that I can use it underwater in preparation of me and my husbands trip. Last saturday tried using it underwater and to my dismay water leakage occurred. I wonder how it happened when I was very sure that I did all the check all that there is to check before using it underwater. In fact I studied the manual very well. Now my camera is at the service center and I dont know if it can be fix. And I lost the opportunity to capture our underwater experience.

TS3 was better

By

I have owned the TS2 and the TS3. They both had great features like HDR mode and high speed burst mode. The TS4 does NOT have these modes. This is very disappointing. The GPS works much faster and the images quality is still very good. I am sad to say that not having the HDR and High Speed burst modes, I may return this camera and get the older TS3. Panasonic, PLEASE fix this with a simple firmware update.

Questions about this item:

Richard S  Can you confirm that the manufacturer strongly suggests replacing the waterproof seal each year? Is ti really $180/year?
JOHN L  Hi Richard, This is a wonderful camera. I purchased two of them when going on cruise. They take great photos, have a fast shutter response, and take excellent underwater video. I used a nighttime setting and got an incredible shot of the full moon cutting across the Caribbean sea. As for the seal replacement this is my take on the subject. I doubt that it would be necessary to replace it very often because the seal appears to be silicone and it shouldn't oxidize, or dry out, that quickly. The manufacturer is probably suggesting the most cautious approach, which is understandable, but this seems to be over kill to me. I'm no expert and this is simply an opinion. Having said that, this is a great camera and it cost a few shekels. I knew that things can happen in the real world. I didn't want to take any chances on leaks so I purchased two of the dive cases from Adorama because I want to keep these cameras for as long as possible. Instead of investing in seal replacements I preferred to do a one time purchase for the dive cases. They fit the camera perfectly and add an extra level of protection. http://www.adorama.com/IPCDMWMCFT3.html?utm_source=ET&utm_medium=TransactionalEmail&utm_campaign=2point0Product1 Adorama has been incredible. From sales to after the sale customer service. They are a cut above. I will never go anywhere else for my camera needs. Good luck, John
