Better than I expected

By Eugene

I purchased this gx85 with 12-35 lens sometime last fall and been use it since.(about 3000 shutter releases) This is my first m43 camera and to get it I trade in my D7100.For a while I had the notions that I make a mistake by going for m43 lumix. Not any more.I review my pictures from D7100 and GX85.Most GX85 pictures come out better looking with less noise.I have been Nikon guy for 15 years+ but this thing got heavy with 17-55 lens or 70-300 VR or even 16-85.I love Nikon but technology is goi...

Panasonic LUMIX GX85 4K Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera Kit, 12-32mm Lens, 16 Megapixels, Dual Image Stabilization, Electronic Viewfinder, WiFi

For today's interchangeable lens camera enthusiasts - or anyone looking for a lighter, newer more intelligent alternative to bulky DSLRs - Panasonic LUMIX Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds system cameras deliver impressive, no-compromise performance.

Nearly half the size of most DSLRs, the DMC-GX85 delivers impressive large sensor performance in the most compact camera system ever designed by Panasonic LUMIX. Thanks to the elimination of the low pass filter, its fine detail resolving power is boosted nearly 10% over previous 16-Megapixel sensors. Image stabilization is top of its class with the complementary LUMIX 2-axis lens O.I.S. and a new 5-axis in-body I.S., available in either photo or video recording modes.

Camera purists will enjoy the familiar quick-access thumbwheel controls and integrated 2764k-dot eye-level electronic viewfinder, plus a tilting LCD display for greater flexibility in difficult shooting angles. Modern enthusiasts will love the WiFi mobile control and next-generation flexibility that 4K Video, 4K PHOTO and 4K Post Focus modes bring to the creative experience.

Features
• New 5-axis in-body sensor stabilizer works with LUMIX 2-axis optically stabilized lenses in video and still capture modes using class-leading Dual Image Stabilization.
• Eliminates the need for low-pass sensor filters while boosting fine detail resolving power by nearly 10% over existing 16-Megapixel MFT sensors.
• Shoot lighter and faster with the modern hybrid photography performance of a Mirrorless camera and nearly half the bulk of most DSLRs.
• Thumbwheel controls, integrated viewfinder and touch control enabled tilting LCD maximize control of the photographic experience.
• Capture spontaneous moments with 4K imaging performance in both 4K video and exclusive 4K PHOTO and Post Focus. Expand creative possibilities with 27 (and growing) interchangeable lens options.

Questions about this item:

MARK S  is this gray market?
Tarquin S  No, mine was official US stock & valid for the 3 year extended warranty from Panasonic.
DAVE K  Mine was not.
SowmyaMaruthi L  Nope, Adorama is official seller for Panasonic
Bernard E  Nope; mine came with full U.S. warranty- and 3yr extension at the time.
John E  No this is not. Gray market items typically do not include a US warranty. This item is elegible for a 3 year manufacturer's warranty rather than one- not always obvious on this website.
Kenneth R  No
Shopper  What's a good telephoto lense for travel with this camera?
David L  35-100 F2.8
John E  A good and inexpensive choice is the panasonic 45-150 mm f4.0-5.6. Strictly for travel, the panasonic 14-140 mm f3.5- 5.6 zoom covers the full range, eliminates the need for changing lenses, and is a little sharper, but it is more expensive.
DAVE K  I bought my GX85 bundled with 12-32 and 45-150. I also had a Olympus 40-150. Both the 45-150 and 40-150 are very good IMO. However, the 45-150 works better with GX85 - dual OS as well as DFD.
Kenneth R  Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm f1.8 (Black) Lens for Olympus and Panasonic Micro 4/3 Cameras
MITCH G  Take a look at the Lumix 14 -140 zoom. It's light and pretty compact and I've gotten great images with it. The focal range is pretty amazing so once it's on the Camera you probably won't take it off. If you need the telephoto range why not have the normal and wide with you too.
ALOK G  Lumix 14-140mm is a good general purpose travel lens. It makes the camera a bit larger, but allows a good 28-280mm equivalent length. There is a new 12-60 lens that was released, but I have not seen it yet. If you do get the 14-140, then I recommend pairing with a small prime like the 20mm f/1.7.
