Samsung EX2F the latest model in its growing range of Wi-Fi-enabled SMART CAMERAs. Following the success of the EX1 with F1.8 lens, the new model is engineered to deliver super-bright photography thanks to its F1.4 lens, the brightest in any compact camera. The high image and video quality of the EX2F also comes with the advantage of being able to store and share images remotely using Wi-Fi functionality. Encompassing Full Manual Control in a strong but lightweight body, the EX2F is ideal for DSLR-owners looking for more portable equipment to capture images spontaneously and subtly, and for photographers looking for a step-up in quality from their point-and-shoot whilst retaining ease-of-use and portability.
The Samsung EX2F combines a number of features to deliver incredible picture quality in all conditions. With the segment-leading advanced F1.4 24mm Lens, the wide range of aperture steps delivers clear images and video even in very low light conditions. These are easily controlled using the professional front wheel key and Dual Dials, which enable switching between parameters and modes quickly for greater manual control. The low-light capabilities of the EX2F are also added to by the 1/1.7" 12 Megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, which delivers clear, blur-free images - even when shooting objects in low-light situations.
Fusing quality with creativity, 1080/30p Full HD Movie Recording with stereo sound allows users to capture video in high enough quality to enjoy on a Full HD TV. The EX2F also allows still 12 Megapixel photos and video to be captured simultaneously using the Dual Capture feature, so that any scene can be shot as both photo and video.
The world's brightest compact camera lens
The EX2F's F1.4 24mm wide-angle lens is approximately four times as bright as a F2.8 camera lens. A further development is that the lens unit now consists of eleven elements in nine groups, with four aspherical lenses and two high refractive lenses. Combined, these provide a 20% increase in the amount of light on the sensor, a 20% increase in image quality and a 10% increase in zoom ratio.
The lens on the EX2F also incorporates a Neutral Density (ND) filter, giving the user greater control over exposure time in different conditions and making photos appear more neutral in situations of over-exposure. It also allows for shooting at a very shallow depth of field, so users can isolate their subjects from backgrounds to create stunning portraits. To make bright images clearer, the EX2F also includes Dual IS (OIS and DIS) to minimize the effect of shaking - particularly useful in low-light situations.
Housed in a sleek yet durable high-intensity magnesium body, more commonly found on DSLR models, the EX2F combines high-end image quality with convenience and speed. For those accustomed to the level of creative control on DSLRs, the EX2F allows for shooting in RAW mode for professional standard pictures.
The EX2F also encompasses Full Manual Control as well as Aperture and Shutter Priority modes. The Dual Dial and front wheel keys also allow users to quickly and easily adjust exposure for effortless pro-style control. This is all combined into a body that is compact and light, making it possible to carry the camera anywhere for spontaneous shots without the complication and intrusiveness of a weighty DSLR.
Bright and intuitive display
The 3.0" Swivel AMOLED display is perfect for lining up great shots and viewing them under any light conditions - and does so whilstconsuming little battery power. The screen responds swiftly and displays images in high contrast, while the swivel display allows picture-taking from low and high angles - even self-portraits. The screen also incorporates Samsung's Smart Panel user interface, which integrates all parameters into one display for easy control over the end result.
Shooting and sharing from anywhere
The EX2F is the latest in Samsung's SMART CAMERA range of Wi-Fi-enabled cameras, which take the combination of high-quality imaging paired with connectivity to a new level. Wi-Fi connectivity enables the secure storage of images through Auto Backup to a PC or saving to the Cloud. In addition, sharing to social networking sites such as Facebook or Picasa is easy - or pictures can be sent via email.
The EX2F's Mobile Link opens doors for connectivity with smartphones, without even having to resize images or video. Users can also access the Remote Viewfinder to use their smartphone's screen to frame shots from a variety of angles. Through the SMART LINK button, all these functions can be accessed with one touch for simplified sharing and storage.
This camera is fairly easy for basic use. Like all Samsung devices, it will require some time investment to master all of the possibilities. I have enjoyed using mine for about 6 months for a couple weddings (I do flowers) a baby (new neice) and several vacations. I would recommend it for a small alternative to SLR for travel.
Bought this camera for a co worker as a gift. She was super excited and loved it to date
Been shooting with a variety of cameras since 1998 - in fact, well over 100 models. So I'm always in the game for a superb enthusiast model (or Bridge camera as they used to be called). I came late to the game with the EX2F, a good 1-2 years after it was initially released. But I must say that once I received it and began capturing images with it, I was taken aback in a very positive way. Although I have a half-dozen other brand enthusiast high-end compact cameras, this Samsung trounces many of them, in particular, in the area of image clarity. The definition and clarity of the optics on this EX2F is nothing short of amazing! The build quality is absolutely superb, the feel is wonderful, and the ergonomics are spot on (well, in my opinion, that is). But I must again state that the clarity of the images captured by the EX2F is a direct result of the superb optics used in this camera - the results can be downright stunning (appearing more like a much higher megapixel camera). Why Samsung doesn't continue on with this line is beyond me. I suspect this is a "sleeper" model in that it may not have sold in droves initially, but once you discover this gem of a camera, you want to keep it in your collection (which I plan on doing). So Samsung - thanks for producing this camera. I am truly amazed at it's capabilities.
Fast camera, fast af, great great images till 400 iso, still very good after that. The aperture at wide angle setting is truly amazing, the silence of use and the rotating screen makes candid shot as true pleasure. I don't like the fact that a standard flash can't trigger with this camera, a true pity.
When looking, wanted these features or better. 2.0 Bright lens 3" Display HD movie mode Easy manual controls This camera was jam packed with more than I was looking for. Add tilt and swivel, 1.4 lens, easy menus and not too big. Fast enough and sharp pics and movies. WiFi too! Samsung add EVF or OVF and 10x or more zoom and you have a perfect 10!!! Very good camera.
This camera has a great professional feel. It's simple enough for anyone to use and takes amazing photos effortlessly. This camera is for someone that wants the best photos especially when traveling and doesn't want to or is hesitant to take along their larger SLR camera and extra lenses because it makes them feel as if they lose mobility. This is a point and shoot that can replace the need for a bulky camera kit and still get archive quality photos in any lighting situation. Go from a dimly lit aquarium to a sunny vista without adjusting any settings. There is not a better camera at this price. It's the camera I take everywhere. Get it if you where considering a camera around this price point.
Biggest advantage is the 1.4 aperture for bright photos and pic taking in low light. Camera is easy to use. The only thing I don't like is that it has no viewfinder. This would be OK if the screen didn't reflect so much. In sunlight, for example, you see your own mug on the screen and not the thing you are trying to photograph...
I purchased the EX2F one month ago to be a step-up camera for me from the Samsung SH100. ( My wife has decided the SH100 is now her camera). After reading about many cameras I decided on the EX2F because of the wifi option ( the SH100 has that too) and the many other features it offers, most of which I have not yet tried. I was particularly attracted by the F1.4lens. To date, it has turned out to be everything I thought it would be....and more. I am really looking forward to using this camera in Europe this summer. I would suggest that the lens cap be modified to be the "push-thru" type or "retractable" type rather than the removable type - but this is a very minor old-school issue. Great Camera that I recommend!
I my be settling in certain areas but the wifi sharing and iphone remote view and shoot make up for a lot of it.
I purchased this ex2f to replace my old olympus point & shoot used in my carpentry business for before and after pictures...usually indoor pictures. It does well but the flash doesn't pop up automatically. I've also found that it takes very good macro pictures. Forget manual focus unless your subject is dead, it just takes too long to focus! but the auto focus in macro and throughout works well and is very accurate. The display is worthless in bright sunlight and there apparently is no flash shoe view finder available. It really needs one. The display does prove to be a great mirror in the sun. I found the panorama mode fun and easy to use and over all the camera does what I want it to.
