About Sony DSC-TX100V

See pictures in a whole new way with the Cyber-Shot DSC-TX100V/R digital camera. A vibrant 3.5" OLED touch screen provides easy focus selection and photo viewing while a 16.2-megapixel "Exmor R" CMOS sensor delivers stunning low-light performance. Capture expansive landscapes with one touch iSweep Panorama or record crystal clear Full HD 1080/60i movies. Also equipped with 3D still image and 3D Sweep Panorama, this camera will change the way you view your world. Advanced features also include Backlight Correction which helps you get details in difficult lighting situations and Background Defocus that highlights your subject like a DSLR.

Sony DSC-TX100V Features

  • The DSC-TX100V features a 16.2 megapixel "Exmor R" CMOS image sensor that brings out the full resolving power of the camera's Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens to deliver extremely fast speed, high resolution, and stunning low-light sensitivity with improved image clarity and drastically reduced grain
  • 3.5" Touch screen with OLED technology gives you deeper blacks and more color in your display, all while being thinner than most LCDs
  • Record crystal clear movies at the highest resolution available with capabilities for 60p in 1080. This provides stunning, fast motion video with less distortion for playback on your HD TV
  • With iSweep Panorama just press the shutter, pan the landscape and let the camera do the rest. It automatically links together each frame to produce a panoramic image. This model even detects faces and moving subjects to stitch intelligently different widths to help avoid subject distortion
  • Don't miss a single detail in high contrast shots. The built in backlight correction analyzes the image and automatically adjusts accordingly to give you a perfectly lit shot
  • Produce awe-inspiring images with 3D still image capabilities. . Images will take on a new dimension to view the world in a whole new way
  • The camera automatically recognizes the correct scene mode, then quickly shoots and combines up to six shots to produce images with greater clarity, optimum dynamic range using backlight correction HDR technology and lower image noise using 6 shots layering technology
  • Portrait subjects will love the results. Soft Skin mode recognizes skin tones and reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles without affecting the rest of the shot
  • DSLR photographs are often beautiful because they blur the background, putting the emphasis on your subject. Now Sony's point-and-shoot cameras can deliver this signature DSLR benefit
  • Conventional point-and-shoot camera flash shots just don't capture colors the way the eye sees them. Natural Flash mode takes a reference shot without flash and then uses that reference to correct the color, for far more lifelike images
  • The DSC-TX100V can capture full 16.2 megapixel resolution images at up to 10 frames per second, helping to ensure that the decisive moment is captured such as the soccer ball flying into the goal
  • The high-performance Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x optical zoom lens brings distant subjects closer for video recording as well as for outdoor, sports, and travel photos, and Close Focus shoots close-ups up to just under ½" from the subject
  • The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a compact audio/video connector interface for transmitting uncompressed digital streams. HDMI connects digital audio/video sources such as a compatible camcorder, Blu-ray Disc player, a personal computer
  • Smile Shutter technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter button and the camera does the rest. Also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection Sensitivity
  • Sony's Face Detection technology can automatically distinguish between children and adults. Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends
  • Motion Detection, along with Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when movement is detected, reducing blur in moving subjects and faces
  • It's frustrating to capture the perfect shot, only to review it later and discover subjects blinked during the photo. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting or blinking
  • In Sweep Multi Angle mode, the camera takes 15 images at different angles as it sweeps across the scene. By tilting the camera during playback, the camera's Gyro Sensor detects motion and displays the image in a 3D-like view on the camera's LCD
  • When set in Anti-motion Blur Mode, the DSC-TX100V captures six images in a fraction of a second with higher shutter speed and combines the data from all six to create a single image of extraordinary detail and dramatically reduce subject blur, beyond the capability of traditional cameras
  • TransferJet technology, developed by Sony and advanced and promoted by consortium of 18 other companies, allows the transfer of up to ten files between two TransferJet enabled devices just by touching their TransferJet logos together
  • The Full HD video captured with the DSC-TX100V can be used with the provided Picture Motion Browser software2 for PC and iMovie (sold separately) for Mac systems
  • Sony Picture Motion Browser software offers a simple, intuitive way to transfer, sort, and view your video and still images on your compatible PC
  • With the pre-installed Picture Motion Browser (PMB) Portable 5.5 software the DSC-TX100V makes it easy to pre-select videos and images in the camera and conveniently upload them from the camera to a compatible PC and popular Internet sharing sites

Not so great

By

This camera uses a very odd video format. Video looks great only on my camera but anywhere else it looks terrible. This makes it very difficult to share my video with family. My father doesn't even know how to play this format. The touch screen is nice, but you can't see it in daylight and its impossible to even frame images in sunlight let alone use any of the other functions the camera has. The camera has great image and video quality, but whatever software it is using is incapable of doing the fantastic lens and image processor justice. It is tricky to get good images out of this little camera. A real shame as it has the hardware to take wonderful images. Images are often out of focus, poorly exposed and as stated early poorly framed due to the difficulty you will have seeing what you are trying to take a picture of.

compact and easy

It is disappointing that each new model comes with a differente type/size batery & memory card. I have a previous model of Sony Cyber Shot camera and I am not able to use the old batery and memory card on this camera! I think manufactures should be required to standarize the items (bateries, memory card, ports and cables) they use and only change them when the become obsolete

Fantastic picture and video qauilty

By

I bought this camera for my girlfriend to use on a trip. The pictures and video she came back with were simply stunning. She found the camera easy to use, full of fun features and the results stunning. I was particularly impressed with the video. For a small point and shoot camera, the HD video quality rivals some much more expensive video equipment. Of course you're at the mercy of the lighting you're given etc. but if you're looking for a good "all-around" point and shoot this is your answer!

As good as it gets!

By

This is my fourth Sony Cyber-Shot camera and I love it! It lives up to the reputation of being a Sony pocket shooter with a great lens, easy to use features, and great build quality. I bought the TX100V to replace my aging N2. It's lived up the the image quality of the N2 and even get's close to the color correction of my Canon DSLR with filter. The HD video is as crisp and clean as you'd expect from a camera shooting full HD. My only complaints have to with the screen. It seems like the touch-screen suffers from the same back-lighting issue that plagued the first iterations of the iPad. In direct sunlight, the screen is almost impossible to see making the camera features almost useless. Also, all the controls are on the touch screen as well. So, when you are taking a photo and you accidentally graze the screen, you can send it into a different mode without realizing it. Short of those two slight problems, this camera is a winner!

Disappointment

By

I purchased a sony cyber shot dsc100 5 years ago - the best compact camera ever- worn it out! Thinking the quality of sony would only improve, I purchased another sony cyber shot dsc tx110v- so disappointed - starting with the lens cover is very hard to OPEN -- even though the screen is suppose to be larger, it has so many icons you cannot clear which makes your view smaller - very confusing - instructions were almost none - the lag time in shutter is so long you miss a lot of "moments" waiting on recovery - the on/off button & pic button aren't easy to operate - can not think of one good feature of this camera - will try to return it - very disappointed in Sony
