The Sony DSC-TX20 Digital Camera (blue) is a 16.2 MP point-and-shoot that boasts water, dust and shock-proof capabilities. That means it is tough enough to stand up to an extreme sport lifestyle, a toddler and life in general. In addition to capturing high res stills, the TX20 also captures 1080/60i HD video using dual record for stills and movies.
A generous 3.0" Xtra Fine touch panel LCD provides a large platform for recording, reviewing and menu navigation. The Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x optical zoom lens provides a wide 25-116 mm focal length and the added benefit of Sony's Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode Image Stabilization. This ensures that even handheld shots will look smooth and clear.
No matter what you're recording, the TX20 stores files to MS Duo, SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards. A micro HDMI connection also allows for a one cable connection to your HDTV, for big, beautiful memories on the big screen. Additional highlights of the camera include 10 fps burst capture, 3D still and 3D Sweep Panorama shooting, Intelligent Sweep Panorama HR mode and more!
The camera produces excellent photos. One needs to be careful that it is focusing on the desired area, but this is easy to do with the touch screen, by touching the area that you want to focus on.
I purchased this product because it has excellent quality pictures as well as video. I used the video as well as taking pictures at the same time. This camera is waterproof, which is always a plus since we take pics at the water parks. I can't find any faults with this camera, and it is easy on the wallet for price and quality!
So far I have not used this camera under water, but I have already taken lots of pictures. The quality is good and the camera is easy to use. The weakness I have found so far is the zoom, but, with a camera this size and price one can not expect everything. Overall, a good deal.
Panasonic LX 2 and LX7 are great for all my travel photo needs for a long time. Sony TX20 camera will not be my choice if weather forecast did not say about raining weather in NYC during my kid's graduation. Because I need a camera could be used in raining condition. To my surprise, Sony TX20 performance (both photo and video) are way above my expectation. Photos turned out to be great even in low light condition. Video is up to my Sony HC1 level. No kidding. The software used in TX20 is pretty good. Since Sony TX20 is replaced by TX30, get u self one befopre it all gone.
Im very disappointed about this camera, sure it takes good picture but its not reliably. I used in underwater and the next day the flash failed. It says E 91.01 error and it doesnt work. If you want a good underwater camera look for Olympus. I had it for 5 years and it still works perfect.. I just wanted to upgrade to a new camera and this is what i got. ..
This camera is the best in my book. Its photo image is super clear to the tiniest detail, you can literally just point and shoot and the photo comes out great, love the touchscreen, SO many cool picture options!! I LOVE the intelligent auto - so clever! If you are having second thoughts about this camera, stop. Just buy.
When I was learning how to use this camera, I found it easier to use Sony's online instruction manual than trying to navigate the various windows in the viewfinder.
I love this little camera. I bought it for a trip to the tropics, knowing I would take it kayaking, hiking, up a volcano, and snorkeling. I took many underwater photos that came out well in the full sun, using the underwater mode, and they actually were corrected for that usual "blueness" that underwater photos have. I also shot video underwater, during the day, and it came out well. Action photos of sea life, kayaking, landscapes, and panoramic shots were all terrific. The only disappointment was the nighttime underwater photos, although I really shouldn't complain. It took mostly blurry photos when light was not bright, but again, it's not a DSLR. Happy with my purchase, and recommend to all sporty people who want a camera that can tolerate a little bump here and there, and that can swim along with them.
This is a great little camera. It is easy to use just point and shot.
I purchased this camera for a spring break trip in 2011. It worked beautifully. Great photos, including many underwater. The following spring break, 2012, I packed this camera and looked forward to more great underwater shots. The first time I submerged it, it filled with water and was ruined. No camera for the rest of the vacation (I had to take photos using my iPhone for the rest of the trip - obviously, no underwater.). To say I was mad is an understatement. I don't like wasting money. Stay away!
