Vary good for critical focus

I replaced a Pentax mag viewer with this 1.5 mag eye piece. Have been vary happy with it sence it magnifis the full view finder for better manual focus. And not just for macro, for all phots. Helps me clearly see if the focus is spot on or not.

Not all that great

This thing is pretty near impossible to use while wearing glasses. Looking through it, it isn't incredibly comfortable to look through because you feel like your eye is going to touch the glass. Also, the magnification is almost unnoticeable at 1.15X and I had to switch between it and nothing several times to notice the difference in view size. I'll probably be keeping mine just to avoid return shipping fees and all that , but I wont be recommending it to anyone.

Depends on what you want

Use with sony screen protector for more eye relief. Does give a slightly enlarged view. Must get really close to eye cup to keep full finder visable. If you love eye start, forget it.

Well worth it if you don't need eyestart

By

I got this viewfinder magnifier to help me find more accurate focus with long lenses for wildlife photography and macro lenses for flowers & insects. Although 1.15x is not much on paper, it does add just enough to make my a700's viewfinder that much roomier & allow me to see more clearly whether focus is right on or just off. Compared to off-brand high-magnification eyepiece accessories that I've tried before, this one is a lot easier to use (with glasses in my case) because it protrudes less from the back and maintains full coverage of the viewfinder area and the settings displayed along the bottom edge. It covers the eyestart sensors but that doesn't matter for me as I find those are more likely to drain the battery unnecessarily with false starts (when carrying or handling the camera) than genuinely saving me any time when there's shooting to be done.

not worth the money

By

from Fernley, NV  -  Semi-Pro Photographer

I was disappointed with this product, and doubly so since I'm a confirmed Sony user. The magnification is minimal, and the camera's "Eye start" auto-focus feature can't be used when this eyepiece magnifier is in place.

Not worth it

By

This eyepiece adapter is of limited use. It barely magnifies the view in the viewfinder, and blocks the two small eye-start windows that start AF function before the shutter button is even touched.
