About Kata

GDC Torso-Pack T-214

• KATA's Torso Pack is uniquely designed to keep your D / SLR or Camcorder in quick-draw position, while TST protected. T-214 enables frontal carrying and quick draw without weighing on your neck. The Torso Packs are the central element of KATA's EPH System.

• They can be used on their own or attached to the W-92 Waist Pack as well as one of the backpacks. The T-214 fits up to a large D/SLR with lens attached The unique design allows you to carry the bag up front or on your back, and change the position even while on the go.

• The lid is secured by a wide hook & loop fastener and a side release buckle, and one pull allows for a quick full opening of the parallel zipper set, this means that at all times you have frontal top access to your camera.

• The large main compartment is divided in a way that allows you to store your camera in top grip position while below the body you can store and protect additional lenses or accessories. Additional external pockets will hold your personal effects.

• Kata's TST (Thermo Shield Technology) provides the perfect level of protection against shock, vibration and impact. It continues in KATA's tradition of light weight and ergonomic shape.

• KATA's Ergonomic Photo (EPH) System is modular and versatile. The EPH System allows you to set the configuration required for the mission. You can attach 2 or 3 products that are "EPH System Compatible" into a set.

A different sortof camera bag

I did a lot of research before I bought this bag. It is in a small category of shoulder bags that can be carried in front, which is what I wanted- to be able to reach in and grab my camera without taking off the pack. This it does very well. I can even support my elbows on it to take a picture. It is extremely well built, though there are fewer pockets and less space than I had hoped. Still, it was not meant to be a bag that holds everything, and it can be attached to other products in the Kata system for more carrying capacity. It can be used as a back-pack as well as a front pack. I would not take it out in a rainstorm without a rain cover-I wish it came with one. The weight pulls out away from the body a bit- perhaps I don't have the straps adjusted correctly. It came with almost no instructions and has a lot of straps. Still, I DO like this bag. It does what I wanted it to do. It holds my Canon 30d with 70-300 lens attached (hood turned back over lens), an additional short lens fits on the smaller side ( 17-85), or the large lens will also fit on the small side if camera and a different lens are on the large side. That combo is a bit tight though-harder to pull the lens out. It has one small outside pocket-might hold a lens cleaner brush,a little pocket inside for xtra battery or card, and a big pocket in back suitable only for flat things such as manuals, as this part also rests against your body. There is also a front expansion pocket which is a bit hard to open, but in a pinch I found I could get a flash attachment in there. As I am a woman, I wondered if a front bag would be comfortable, and it is. You can adjust the carrying height to suit your body type. I find this important as I find most gear is designed for men. I think, though not sure, you can carry it on either shoulder with adjustments, though left shoulder is what I use and is shown.

Great Protection, light, small bag

By

from New York  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Nice light bag for carrying a DSLR (up to medium size like Nikon D700 or Canon 5D MKII) and a small lens or two. Feels light yet is very protective.

Glad I bought it

By

I bought this to replace a smaller bag that just didn't work well for me. I already use a Kata video bag for work and love the yellow interior (makes it easier to find things), ease to configure, and awesome carry strap. I love everything about this bag except the straps. It carries well, distributes weight effectively, moves into position nicely for retrieving and swapping lenses, etc. But, the narrow web strap twists too easily. Also, unless you're going to add other components of the system the extra waist strap is totally unnecessary and gets in the way - I'll be cutting it off. I wish it had a wider, more substantial shoulder strap. Other than that, this is an awesome bag for carrying a body, attached lens, 2nd lens and a flash. I recently lugged it around for a long weekend and loved how comfortable it was and how easy it was to get to my gear.

Kata GDC T-214 Torso Pack

By

from Stacy, MN  -  Photo Enthusiast

I wanted an equipment bag for outdoor excursions like snowshoeing, hunting, fishing and biking. The pack works well with lots of pockets and adjustable compartments. The only thing I would like to see different is a way to swing it around to hang on your backside when needed. The strap is contoured for the front side only.

Kata T-214 Camera Bag is great!

By

from Centennial, CO  -  Casual Photographer

I travel to Scotland often and the torso pack has made it easier and less bulky to carry my Nikon D40 all over the country. The ability to wear it on my back or on my chest comfortably makes all the difference in the world!

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ALLAN J  I have 2 bags. one backpack and this one. when i need to take more than one lense orther things,i can't imagine lugging my big bag,i use this one, much lighter and convenient.
Scott W  is this an old model? If so which one replaces it?
SIMON P  It might be 2010 or 2011 model/ I purchased this in mar/2011 and it was listed in their web site back then. It fit well with my D200 with optional battery holder and a SB800 flash. It is very compact and fit what I used it for. the current price is a great deal!. Hope this help! Simon P Boston
Aries M  Can you use this for camcorders? How many compartments?
JEFFREY Z  Jeffrey I am not using for a camcorder, but would think it could be used for one. There are 2 removable velcro tabbed dividers that create 3 potential pockets in the main bag. Then there are two zipper pockets for accessories and a cell phone type pocket. I like the way you can sling it forward or backward like a pack. Forward for quick access. Hope this is helpful
