Hugs the contours of the Motor Drive M, extensive support
As far as I know, this Kirk plate is the only QR plate specifically designed for the Leica Motor M. I'm surprised that none of the other major tripod support manufacturers have bothered to make something specifically for the Leica Motor M.
As usual for Kirk, it is very accurately made, and finely finished. There are no sharp edges or points anywhere. It acts as a great baseplate protector too.
On the tripod, it allows solid support, yet has enough length to allow lateral shifts for fine tuning.
If you run into a tripod that lacks the Arca Swiss type clamps, a 1/4 inch tripod screw is provided, in a more central location that what is originally on the camera or bottom of the motor drive. Those are in the traditional Leica position of being off to one side.
