The focal length makes this an all-round versatile lens - yet its high speed makes it an exceptional lens with ample reserves for any situation. The complex optical design with an aspherical lens surface produces an image quality at full aperture that is unique for compact wide-angle lenses. Available in black anodized or silver chrome finish.

great optics the lens to have if you were to have only one M lens....
I walked into Adorama in December 2009, took the "plunge," and bought this lens just before the price increase of Jan 2010. I use it with my M7 film camera, and I have not noticed any back focus issues with my copy. It definitely has a distinctive signature i.e., swirlly bokeh, high contrast, and mind boggling sharpness. It will flare a little bit if pointed towards the sun or very bright lighting, but it's nothing to worry about. If your looking for a 35mm lens for your rangfinder, then this is it; it really doesn't get any better in my opinion.
The porsche 911 of Lenses- Fast with lots of class. Might also consider the new 28mm for wide angle.
