A filter is a filter, is a filter...unless the one I received was silver mount instead of black mount. Looks just a little out of place on my black Leica lens.

Used in good condition. Expensive like everything from Leica.

I bought this to protect the front element of a new Summicron 35mm ASPH lens. I protect all of my lenses with some sort of UV filter to prevent front element damage. This is especially important on some vintage lenses such as the collapsible Summicron 50, which has very soft lens coatings which are easily damaged. Nicely made, very low profile, with Leitz glass. The reflectivity is about the same as for B+W MRC filters. My only qualm about recommending this filter is that the B+W MRC give you the same quality for a lot less. Nevertheless, if you've paid a lot for new Leica glass, you may want a real Leica filter to go with it.

A Ova filter is available as an accessory for every LEICA M lens. In addition, there is also an orange and a yellow green filter available for some of them.
Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region.
