The Lenovo ThinkPad W520 4276-39U 15.6" Notebook Computer is a highly portable, high-performance computer that means business. This notebook computer features a widescreen 15.6" viewable display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a Full High Definition (FHD) resolution of 1920 x 1080. The display also has an antiglare screen. The system features a comfortable, spill-resistant keyboard and Lenovo's UltraNav system for mousing. UltraNav combines a TrackPoint and a large multi-gesture TouchPad for precise cursor control. The included 9-cell battery can power the system for up to 10.8 hours. Plus, if you opt to purchase Lenovo's "slice" battery, the system can run for up to 21.6 hours before needing a recharge.
The computer features a workstation-class nVIDIA Quadro 1000M GPU, perfect for use in professional 3D and design applications. The Quadro features 2GB of memory and offers full compliance to the Open GL as well as ISV standards such as DSS CATIA, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Adobe and Maya. For those times when a dedicated GPU is not needed, you can switch to the system's integrated Intel GMA HD 3000 graphics processor - it isn't as powerful as the Quadro, but it uses less battery power.
The computer is powered by a quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Core i7-2820QM CPU, which can be overclocked to 3.4GHz thanks to Intel Turbo Boost. It is loaded with a sizeable 8GB of RAM, a 500GB 7200rpm hard drive and a DVD burner. It boasts Bluetooth 3.0+EDR, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, a 720p webcam and a built-in memory card reader. Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) is the installed operating system.
