No more nuts and bolts necessary when assembling the softbox. Putting together a softbox sometimes can be a daunting task and can frustrate some people. With the redesigned easy softboxes for Flora light bank, users are not required reading any manual before operating the unit. This foolproof mechanism is so intuitive that users can ready the softbox as if they open an umbrella. High quality reflective materials used inside the backcover offer maximum reflection to the subject. The new (35" diagonal) softbox is also lightweight and small in size.

Once you learn the fundamentals of continuous light, you will have much the quality of a window light with the added benefit of feathering.
I like the concept of this softbox. Setup is very fast, it seems sturdy enough, and it can be used with our without the diffusion. The interior is silvered, so it is more efficient than a shoot-through umbrella. The ribs are doubled and not hinged, so it seems to be stronger than a conventional folding umbrella. This smallish softbox is a useful size, but I do wish they offered large and extra large sizes to complement this one. This box is special made exclusively for the Linco Flora, so while it is versatile, it is not as versatile as an umbrella or the Photek Softlighter. However, it is quite easy to set up and can be used to create somewhat of a hard light if used without the diffusion. My biggest reservation is that there is no ventilation, so even though the CFL lights run much cooler than comparable output halogen, there is still a lot of heat build up when used with the diffusion screen attached. Of primary concern is that the CFL ballasts will overheat, as it gets quite toasty inside. I hope to see generous ventilation on future versions. You listening Linco?
