About Adorama

Lens hoods guard against uncontrolled, stray light and unwanted reflections which result in reduced contrast and possible "ghost Images". In general, the use of a lens hood is recommended because better contrast improves the appearance of the photograph. This accessory also offers protection for the front lens element against rain and mechanical damage.

Rubber Lens Hood are made out of a high quality matte black rubber. It folds down and protects against contrast - reducing, uncontrolled, stray light.

It's a waste of money.

I have been an Adorama fan for decade. I purchased several items like Tokina 35mm, Onkyo stereo amp. without any issues. But this one I was very disappointed. This is not the one I ordered as compared to the picture shown and even received the item with to many scratches in the metal ring. It looks used to me. I don't intend to return the item that may cost me more. From this experience, this will be my last transaction with Adorama. Good Bye Adorama.

This lens hood will fold out of the way when not in use. It's very easy to store even on the lense.

Correct Equipment at the right price

By

This is seen as essential equipment and functions well. In addition in controling light striking the film it provides protection from lens damage. Since I do not shoot in sandstorms, I think this affords a more realistic protection for prevent lens damage.

The best way to shoot the fishes!

By

from Riverside, CA  -  Photo Enthusiast

In all my years here in So Cal I never went to the Aquarium of the Pacific. I purchased my Nikon D3200 late June and recently watched a video on how to shoot pictures at an Aquarium and it just so happened to be the one here in So Cal. The photographer used a rubber lens hood so it did not scratch the glass and could wrap to the curvature of some of the tanks. This is the only allowable method to do such photography against the glass at the Aquarium of the Pacific. So I headed straight to Adorama to look for such a lens hood and found exactly what I needed in one shot! A few clicks later I had ordered my 52 and 58mm hoods. Plus they even take PayPal! Within a few days I had my 52mm hood. It was quite flexible and easy to installed it also allows additional filters if needed. So next stop the Aquarium of the Pacific! Well this product came in very handy and I was able to get some great shots of some spectacular Jelly fish and other creatures like leafy dragons. The ability to put the lens almost on the glass was and excellent was to assure I could grab the most detail and color palette without outside light interference. It was such a wonderful decision to purchase this that I have made similar recommendations to other photographer friends and even a local instructor at a big box store. I love Adorama!

It Works!

By

I purchased the rubber hood for my Olympus Zuiko 12-50 lens that came with my new OM-D E-M5, purchased from Adorama. Olympus appears too cheap to package a hood with their lenses, and then charges an exorbitant price for those they will then sell you. I've used rubber hoods for years, and though over time some tend to dry rot (but hey, look at the price... they're worth it!), they provide consistent aid in keeping a shot from experiencing light glare. One caveat: there is some vignetting at points when the hood gets in the view of the lens. That, however, is not a major issue if you know how to work around it.

Great Hood

By

from Knoxville, Tn  -  Photography Student

This is a well made hood. I love the way it folds down. Now I can leave my hood on the lense and still put the lens cap on, and it fits in my bag like that too. It looks to be made well and has already survived being dropped once without any damage to the hood or lens.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JENNIE D  I bought this Rubber Lens Hood to use with my Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens that I bought for doing portrait work. It will help cut down on sun flare when outside. I attached it to the lens and left it on.
Shopper  hi, will this work with 18-55nikkor lens?.
ALFREDO R  Yes, it will work, thread is the same for mounting, but maybe at wide view of 18mm you will have small vignette in the corners.
Drew D  Would there be any problems using this on the Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Pancake Lens?
JOYCE J  I can't answer the compatibility question but I purchased three different sizes of this rubber hood and each one of the rubber hood sections became separated from the ring that screws on to the lens I tried to glue them back on but no luck. I don't have one left in tact. They lasted about six months
