The LG 42LH90 42" Full HD 1080p LCD TV has an LED backlit panel with the new 240Hz effective response rate time. While not an actual response rate, the panel is produced to reduce motion lag with sports programming or gaming.

Honestly, this TV with its next generation LED local dimming and 100% COMPLETELY customizable picture settings is possibly the best, bar none, LED TV in its class. For Adorama's great price, it cannot be beaten. HDTV is superb with 720p/1080i broadcast signal, and BluRay is honestly so crystal clear that in many CGI movies, it's fun to actually SEE the green screen. No kidding, it's that delicate. When pushing true 1080p, you can walk directly up to the screen and not see one tiny bit of pixelation. LG's remote is super easy to use, the TV comes with many standard presets, and the availability to tweak any and everything regarding the picture. This is extremely helpful for non-HD programming, so that even standard definition material is excellent. The sound from the internal speakers is far better than any other in its class that I have tested. Tons of HDMI, Component, Composite, USB and PC hookups make for an almost endless amount of configurable home theater components. Another really nice thing to show off to your friends is the ability to pop in a USB stick to show off pictures, music AND videos... yep, comes with abilities to natively support Divx/Xvid and x264/h264 encoded videos in mpg, avi, divx, mov AND MKV file containers. Although the average user might not have a lot of use for this, power downloaders understand this means A HUGE reduction in video prep time, so you can indeed "Plug and Play" nearly anything you want. Firmware is upgradable via a factory USB stick, if you should ever need it. Superb LED TV!

good picture, poor software
This TV has one of the best pictures out there for a LED TV, however, the intelligent sensor mode is rendered useless due to its poor color settings (unless you like everyone's skin to have a purplish hue). Also, the remote contol along with the on screen menu structure is far from being the best out there. I've seen remotes that are worse, but not many.

We waited for many years to purchase a flat screen & glad we did . We love our 42"led . Ease of use and great pictures. LG truly stands by their products ! Tks !
We've had our LG for about a year. The picture is still bright and crystal clear. Cable programming looks great, but the over-the-air reception using rabbit ears is outstanding.
TV has great picture quality. LED back light helps with good, deep blacks. I was disappointed when the TV showed up with non functioning HDMI ports. But I contacted LG and they had them repaired at my house, no questions asked. I've had no other issues since then (a little over 1 year of ownership). The TV has no apps or widgets, but they can also be had from game consoles, blu-ray player, media computer, etc.
I bought this TV based on my experience with the 32LH30 model. This turned out to be a great purchase and I love this TV.
My wife and I were looking to purchase a plasma TV until I saw the LG 42LH90 right next to the plasma I was going to purchase. Although the LG cost a few hundred dollars more, it has such an outstanding picture we had to have it. Before I purchased it I read reviews at CNET and Consummer Reports. Both of this reviews listed it as a "recommended". I have 2 other LG pieces of equipment: VCR/DVR and Entertainment Center. Way to go LG!!
The picture quality is outstanding, especially movies never looked better even if they are not high res. I also like the ability to switch aspect ratios and then to adjust the zoom feature.
I don't understand that a TV like this is not able to make software update by customer. there are files which the tv don't understand...
My wife hates technology. She thinks watching television is a huge waste of time. She doesn't understand why one replaces a perfectly good TV (or any still-working product) with another one. But when I turned on my new LG for the first time, she stopped dead in her tracks. "Wow," she said. Great color. Great resolution. A pleasure to watch.
As my first HD TV, I think this is a pretty good buy. I thought the TV would be lighter/slimmer based on the LED claim in the product title. Remote menu is a little confusing, but perhaps it takes some time to get use to. Overall, happy with this purchase.
This is our second LG LCD (first one being 47LG50, purchased in 2008). It's a great display with good styling, vivid pics, great contrast and better audio. My only issue is that there is no ethernet to connect to web direct. Will have to use a network enabled bluray player or PS3.
