I finally got to take this bag out for a medium trek through the local zoo fully loaded. Yes, it does get a bit heavy but I could carry two camera bodies (D5100 w/18-140mm and D5300 w/ 18-300 older and larger zoom ) and most of my lenses (Pro optic fisheye, Nikon 18-55mm, Sigma 10-20mm Wide zoom, a SB-910 speed light, filters and assorted accessories. I hand carried the D5300 with all else in the bag. I have since also added two Lowepro 100 Aw utility bags and a Tamrac filter belt pack only to ease crowding and be able to detach and leave behind when needed. For an hour or two it is great and for grab and go to location perfect. If I needed accessing equipment would have been easy. For longer than 2 hours (at the very most) I will return the the Lowepro Slingshot 302. THe only lenses I could not fit into this case is my extensive collection of LensBaby lenses which I store in several of their cases lashed together. This is the best all around grab and go case I have ever had the pleasure of using and I have used many over the years. If you carry a lot of gear this bag is almost an essential piece of kit. This case is suburb at protecting, storing and transporting a lot of equiptment. If you need easier access go with a belt or vest system.

My favorite bag to date

from Evansville, Indiana  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I just purchased this bag, i can tell you that it suits my purposes 80% of the time. It can carry all of my essentials (and then some) although a few small items are rather difficult in certain situations to get to. A few of the slip-loc bags add ons should take care of this. Between this bags and my Lowepro slingshot 302 bag, 99% of my needs are taken care of. About the only thing I would not want to do with this bags is walk around all day on a long trek through the city or woods, fully loaded. For that project I will use the Slingshot 302. I can't praise the quality of the constuction enough (escailly at this price). With Lowepro I feel like I am paying for quality and not the name.

Questions about this item:

Karen L  Is there enough room to pack other back country camping items in it also? That is what I need. I don't pack a laptop or multiple lens or lens filters. Suggestions?
DAVID S  All the dividers come out so you can configure as you like.
Allan S  Sirs, Do you have the above mentioned backpace in forest green? Thank you, Allan de Sousa.
JIM H  Allan, Only the Flipside 400 is offered in green. The Flipside 500 listed here and in Lowepro's catalog is only offered in black. However, if you are worried about the black color being too hot or showing dirt too easily, I can assure you it functions in any environment to protect your gear. I use the rain cover whenever I am in any adverse condition whether it is mud, sand, rain, snow or hot bright sun . My pack looks as new as the day I bought it a year ago. I have never damaged anything in that time in countless openings on the ground, in and out of my truck, the office or anywhere else. It is a highly functional piece of gear.
Bruce H  I just puchased a 600MM f4 II canon lens -- will this pack fit the lans without the body attached? and have room for body and other lenses?
JEFF S  Hi. The bag is quite roomy and you can arrange the compartments as you like. Of course that's a huge lens. The diimensions of the lens are 6.6" x 17.6" and the inside of the bag is 11" x 7.3" x 18.9" - so I would say yes you can and still have room for a body, batteries, maybe filters - and a couple of lens no longer than about 7". Hope this helps.
