About The Frio V2

Cold shoe adapters have seemingly been around forever but enlight photo decided to take a hard look at the design to rethink and enhance it to its maximum potential with the frio Universal Locking Cold Shoe V2. First they reduced the weight by using a strong polymer. That solved inadvertent flash firing from metal on metal shorting as well.

The frio's patented DualLock system ensures that your valuable equipment is securely mounted. The patented DualThread receiver on the bottom of the frio accepts both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 stand and accessory screws. There's a lanyard tip to hang your radio receiver from, too. The frio is compatible with most standard flash hot shoes on the market including Nikon's SB-900.

The The Frio V2 is popular because customers like the following qualities of the The Frio V2: Easy to use, Lightweight, Packs small / compresses and Reliable

Very well made; tough and compact with a great locking feature. The Frio is a very nice alternative to the cumbersome OEM flash stands used to connect flash units to light stands/tripods.

Holds a flash on a stand bit does not offer the ability to tilt it so it is useless to me

Weak Point, May Be Strong Point?

By

from Austin, Texas  -  Photo Enthusiast

I do like this cold shoe. In shooting in windy conditions on a light weight stand with 20 pounds of sand weighting it down, the stand, Nikon SB 800 and shoot through umbrella fell over twice, each time breaking the top flanges that hold the strobe in place. While disappointing, the breaking of the cold shoe probably prevented the hot shoe base of the strobe to be broken off the strobe itself thus saving a strobe repair bill.

Well-made SB-900/910 Cold Shoe

By

from Utah  -  Photo Enthusiast

I prefer this to Nikon's portable stand built strong and has metal threads, but of course the Frio cannot be used as a stand in and of itself. It is great for mounting the flash separately on a light stand or tripod as part of a group in Remote mode.

Instant Attachment

This is such a time saver. The flash attaches to the Frio instantly, stays secure and releases just as easily.
