Excellent value

This stand I have tried, and I was impressed with the way it functions. I will buy more.

cheap, shaky, fell apart out of the box

I bought two of these, figuring that at [$] list price it would be a reasonably sturdy product. It wasn't.The stand sections and legs are aluminum but the clamping collars and knobs are very cheap plastic. I bought two of these, figuring that at [$] list price it would be a reasonably sturdy product. It wasn't.The stand sections and legs are aluminum but the clamping collars and knobs are very cheap plastic. When I set it up for the first time I managed to pop out one of the riser sections without even loosening the knobs. When I reassembled the stand, I found that it was very flimsy--so flimsy that there is no way I'd trust it to hold anything more than a single speedlight without a lot of sandbags to make sure it doesn't tip over if someone sneezes at it. I gave the legs a quick test and decided that the plastic joints wouldn't last long even with lightweight use, so sandbagging the legs would put even more stress on the under-engineered plastic collars and knobs. This is a poorly constructed product, and I'm surprised Adorama put their name on it. I will return both my stands.

Light Stand

I bought this stand. For the money it's good. You get what you pay for. I bought this to use as an umbrella stand. Great for an umbrella, but hope there is no breeze. Great for indoor jobs, but would not want to use it outdoors unless there was no wind.

Good budget light-stand

By

from USA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I use this light-stand to hold an Adorama LED Video light (FPVL160). It has a gas-lift, so when you untighten each section, it doesn't just come crashing down to the bottom, which is nice. It is light-weight, so when you extend this to its maximum height, it can be a little top-heavy (meaning, it will tip over if you bump it sufficiently hard enough). For controlled home/studio use, it seems adequate, and I have used it standing as is for hours at a time. But for a wedding or other high-traffic area, I think a heavier and sturdier alternative might be a smarter buy.
