works - and good buy for the money

Not bad for light duty
I bought this based on the price and my light duty use. I set it up in with a fotodiox beautydish and speedlight and it works just fine. I'm not sure why you'd need a manual for this thing - it comes assembled! All you gotta do is turn some knobs and extend the sections and tighten. It is light so you definitely need some weight on the bottom. It comes with a bag and hook so i threw two 5lb plates in there and she's fine. I've got about 5lbs hanging off it, boomed all the way out with no problems. I haven't had any problems with knobs not tightening either. Maybe I got a good one - who knows. I would definitely buy again.
This is not a 5 star boom at any cost, this is 5 star boom for the price.

Works, but Flimsy
Purchased this a while ago, and have used it several times. I didn't have many issues with it, however the second section of the stand itself only works at the first level. So, I only effectively get about 6' of height for this.
It is also quite top-heavy with the reflector attached. If you purchase this, I highly recommend some sandbags or some sort of counterweight.

Stand is ok but the pivot point is not
This stand is not too expensive so I wasn't expecting much in term of quality. Still, I'm disappointed. The stand and legs are ok but the apparatus serving as the pivot point between the vertical stand and the boom simply doesn't work. If the boom is slided inside the vertical stand, you won't have any problem. But if you pull out the boom and place it at an angle, and then tighten the two together, it won't work. The boom will slowly fell. I had to use a large washer to somehow fix the problem.
I hope this problem is just with my unit. If not, I would NOT recommend you buy this.

Lightstand+boom=bomb
It's probably a great deal for the price -- but I was worried about the construction/durability of the stand -- so I returned it. It didn't help that I was totally frustrated that simple instructions weren't supplied with the packaging.
