About Adorama

A neutral white dissusion umbrella is a great tool for softening and spreading out the light. Pull the umbrella away from the light and watch the area covered enlarge. Use with a colored gel over the light for some really special lighting effects.

Measures 6 feet these large umbrellas are perfect for borader and softer light

Excellent!

Excellent for someone wanting a bigger light source for not too much money. Build quality is good, but nothing amazing.

Good value

I recently used this to take portraits of 100 kids in youth athletics. It worked very well so far. It seems like a sturdy design and I expect it will last. Its not quite as well made as my wescott umbrellas but this has to be one of the best low cost, large shoot-throughs. It has a heavy canvas material which contributes to the need for a sturdy large stand and umbrella holder. I like it and ill be out with it again soon.

Maybe I don't understand what ribs are..

By

but, the two umbrellas I received have 10 of those metal things that radiate out from the central shaft to support the canopy (I have no complaint with that.) The rod diameter is .310" and it's approximately 36.625" to the top of the umbrella (37.5" to the very tip.) It's 52" in diameter. I haven't used them yet, but I opened one for these measurements and it appears to be of nice quality. Steve

very big and usefull

Excellent results. But Only a comment: Box stated 60 inches, but has only 55". I think was a mistake packing the umbrellas.

Shopper  Can this be used as a shoot through umbrella?
James L  Yes, that's how I use mine. The one I received is only ten ribs, if I recall correctly, but it works wonderfully for dispersing light over a large area. I was shooting kids on Santa's lap, and only had a single off-camera strobe, which I shot through the umbrella. I was very happy with the lighting (including shots with Santa, Mom, Dad, and three kids - a fairly large area).
