The finest in premium telescope eyepieces....
The world standard in telescope oculars, Meade Series 4000 eyepieces yield the widest possible fields of view, consistent with pinpoint edge-of-field sharpness and long eye relief and yet with extremely low astigmatism, spherical aberration, and off-axis color.
Incorporating 7-layer multi-coatings and edge-blackened optics for optimum image contrast, these sophisticated 4 to 8-element designs permit levels of optical performance generally impossible to achieve with eyepieces of fewer elements.
All Series 4000 eyepieces include a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The eyeguards fold down for eyeglass wearers, and in fact the folded eyeguard shields eyeglasses from coming into contact with the metal eyepiece housings. Rubber grips are provided on all but the three shortest focal length Super Plossl eyepieces.
Designed to utilize the very latest in optical glass types, Meade 4-element Super Plossls are excellent general-purpose eyepieces. For observing hairline lunar and planetary detail, splitting close double stars, or for resolving faint nebulosity in deep-space, Meade Super Plossls optimize the performance of any telescope type, whether f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain, f/16 refractor, or f/4 reflector.
They also operate well in conjunction with the air-spaced design of the Meade #140 2x Apochromatic Barlow. All focal lengths through 32mm are parfocal. The Super Plossl 56mm eyepiece with 2" O.D. barrel yields 36X and an actual field of view of 1.4° on an 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.
I wanted to use this in a light refractor for an easy grab and go for travel. I then got a deal on a set of Meade 4000 Super Plossls. Though the zoom has worked well and is convenient to use, I still like the individual eyepieces the best. I will also keep this zoom, however, though I wouldn't rate it up there with zooms that cost a little more. For the price it does do the job and I don't think you'd find one better in this price range.
Purchased for use on my 90 mm f/11 refractor for observing planets. Was happy with the clarity of the view of Saturn under heavily polluted sky. Still need to test it under a truely dark sky.
I use it on a Meade 90ET, as an amatuer astronomy enthusiast, it's a great addition to my collection of telescope lens. Very Clear optics.
Really Nice and clear, made my telescope much more enjoyable.
great eye piece. has good eye relief, and a great case for it.
bright, reasonably wide view, but eye position is very critical. Good optics at a very economical price.
Nice addition to the 26mm eyepiece that came with my Meade LX90 scope!
This is a nice additional eyepiece to the 26mm that came with the scope.
