Meade DS-2114AT-TC 4.5"/114mm Newtonian Reflector Telescope Kit with Motorized Altazimuth Mount

The Meade DS-2114AT-TC reflector telescope is an easy to use, unthreatening beginner's entry to the joy of astronomy. It has enough of the most important quality of a telescope (the ability to gather light) to have some fun looking at the stars, planets and other celestial bodies. A 4.5" aperture reflector's great for city dwellers entering the world of amateur astronomy.

The DS-2114AT-TC is easily aligned to the skies; simply get the scope roughly level and pointing north and then center any pair of bright stars in the view. After you've told the scope when the stars are centered it will calculate exactly where it is pointing. This won't take more than about 5 minutes after you've done it once.

The DS-2114 is an altazimuth mount "GO-TO" scope, meant primarily for observing, but can be used for imaging with a simple digiscoping adapter upon the eyepiece. Everything you'll need to begin observing is included, with the exception of the batteries. Eight "AA" batteries should yield a full evening of observing, but you can also adapt to AC or DC power with optional accessories.

Meade gives you a pair of quality 4-element multicoated Series 4000 Pl÷ssl eyepieces in this package, instead of some no-name cheapies.
