The NV mini features multicoated lenses that enhance light-transmission and an IR illuminator for total darkness conditions. The optical system provides 2.0x magnification for observing subjects at a moderate distance. To ensure a secure grip in total darkness conditions, the mini's ergonomically designed housing is partially covered with a tactile and protective rubberized armor.
