About Metz 36AF5

Metz 36 AF-5 Adi Flash for Sony Digital Cameras is just the right flash solution. In addition, it is impressive because of its easy operation. Even bounce flash becomes child's play, due to the vertically-tilting reflector. The manually adjustable zoom reflector has other advantages. By adjusting the reflector to different focal lengths, the illumination angle of the 36 AF-5 digital can be optimally utilized.

Perfect for my needs..

The perfect solution to avoiid using those on camera pop up flashes. It's light, powerful, and exposes perfectly.

A Step Up from the built-in flash

from Lawrence, Kansas  -  Photo Enthusiast

I purchased the Metz made for the Sony Nex line of cameras. The Nex 5r and Nex 7 have small flashes which will suffice for fairly close fill flash, but are not sufficient for more distance shooting. This works well for group shots indoors. The vertical adjustment allows for bounce lite shots off the ceiling.

It Works

from Pittsfield, MA  -  Photo Enthusiast

Works as advertised on my Pentax K-30. Easy to use, the camera controls the flash. I needed to get up and away from the lens a bit and be able to direct my flash up and away from the subject a bit. This flash does both very well. Nice construction easy and solid connection and lock to camera hot shoe. The only drawback is power is not great, if you need long range light this unit is not the one for you. Works fine for fill flash in family and close up nature still life. It's all I need for now, and for the price I'd say it's a good value.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Is it compatible with Sony A7r?
CHARLES C  I would expect so, due to the upgrade feature, if necessary.
Shopper  will this work with Sony A57?
STEPHANIE D  Yes it does. That's what I'm using it for.
JANICE P  Will this work with Sony A37? I tried the Sigma 610 GT and is did not work consistently on my camera. Took it to my local camera shop and it would not work on another Sony at that time either.
EUGENE R  Janice, I purchased this flash to work with my Sony A65. While it does work 90% of the time, I have had a few times when it failed to flash for no apparent reason. I do believe that I got my monies worth.
