About Noblex

Both the 135 S and 135 U appeal to a wide range of photographers, especially where SIZE and WEIGHT is a consideration. First of all, the body design and format seem to be less intimidating to shooters unfamiliar, to any other format than 135 mm. LARGE FORMAT shooters like the 135 as well, because they think of the 135's as a "quick shooting " camera. It is small and unobtrusive. Image quality in the 135 line is superb, as Noblex uses the exact same lens in the entire 35mm line.

All Noblex Cameras operate the same way. Noblex Cameras are "SWING LENS" cameras, that is, the lens is recessed into a revolving drum, which rotates a complete 360 degrees. During the first half of this revolution, the lens is hidden from view. Also during this period of time, the lens, through a geared system, gets up to speed, a speed which is electronically maintained during the second half of the rotation (because of this, banding, common with spring wound swing lens cameras, is eliminated). As the lens goes through the second half of this rotation, the exposure is made. Light entering through the lens is exposed onto a CURVED FILM PLANE, which results in a panoramic image that is distortion free (it is because of the curved film plane that the image is distortion free, edge to edge). The lens always maintains the same distance from the film plane.

The body of all Noblex Cameras are cast from a single piece of AIRCRAFT STRENGTH ALUMINUM. Each camera is hand produced from components manufactured to factory specifications. The main rotational drum is GEAR DRIVEN, not spring driven. All Noblex Cameras use NOBLAR "T" (Tessar design: 4 element, 4 grouping) lenses. Resulting images are tack sharp, edge to edge.
