expensive piece of junk

I bought this wifi range extender and it's a piece of junk. It's not easy to set up and it doesn't work at all. Online tech support sucks too.

Performance got worse over time - now unusable

I have the extender almost over two years and today the performance is insufficient. Because my PC has no WLAN module, I bought the extender to directly connect my PC with an RJ45 cable (a connection with the router was not possible due to space-limitations. In the first months the connection was ok (I had about 20Mbs) but over time the connection got worse. When I try to check the connection on the extender, it is a game of luck if I managed to get a connection - via cable. The connection between the router and the router is shown to be quite good (80%-90% with approx. 200Mbs) but when I do an online speedtest, it achieves 0.5MBs - both with cable and with my phone, connected to the extended network. When doing a speedtest with a WLAN connection of my phone to the router I get over 100MBs - that's 200 times better! I had enough of it and bought a simple USB WLAN adapter.

Cheap and last long time

Bought this like 5 years ago, it was cheap and worked great, but it finally bugged out on me. It loses settings daily and I have to set it up every day. I am looking to get the new one since I had such good luck on the old one.

N300 Been A Workhorse For A Few Years!

I have this little extender running in my barn to extend my farm network! Yes the horses need internet also lol. This little unit has been on for more than 2 years 24/7 maybe rebooted once lol. What it does is feeds internet to my outdoor wifi plugs that control the horses water trough heaters so it's value is important which it does and has been doing flawlessly. I understand it's not really a simple simple device for most people to comprehend how to figure out at times and I think that's why this extender and most extenders get such bad reviews. Regardless if you happen to know just a little about the directions you'll appreciate this device. Remember that this model broadcast only the 2.4 Ghz wifi of your network so if you want both 2.4 and 5 Ghz then look for Netgears other extender.

Product worked fine; but the speed is dropped

I bought and installed this product this morning. The product worked fine; but the speed is dropped. Not sure if I did not do it correctly. My router is also a Netgear WGR614v10. Before installed, my network ABC measured was around 87Mbps; but it dropped to 45Mbps after installed. Any suggestions or advice. Thank you.

Using for 3 years

I'm using this for 3 years now. Speed drops, as is the case with all extenders. But this thing is reliable. In these 3 years this thing was probably switched off for max 30days. Its 24x7 on, doesn't heat up. Does what it's supposed to do flawlessly.

Won't work awful user guide, UI and support

Spent 3 hours trying to get this to work. Exhausting all customer support guides I could find online and the manual which has no info on what seems to be a commonly reported issue.

Works great at first, but!!!

I've had this product (twin pack approx 12 months due to poor signal in my house. Easy to instal and had one positioned upstairs, one downstairs. It worked absolutely fine until i changed my broadband supplier and tried to reconnect them to the new router. No matter what i've tried it doesn't work. Reset (supposed to take back to factory settings) doesn't work. Information on the website, doesn't work. Chat helpline, doesn't work (unless im prepared to take a month support subscription out at £14.99 per month). Im really annoyed and frustrated with Netgear, great product until you change your router, then it doesn't work so you have to buy a new one.

Great and Reliable device

I've had this range extender for a couple of years now, has never given me any problems. I've changed routers a few times and has been able to connect with all of them and with all my devices, my only disappointment is that it only works with the 2.4 GHz frequency, no dual band.

great choice don't listen to the bad reviews

I have 2 of these at my home, my router is on the 2nd floor and 1 of my extenders is in the basement 2 floors down, i use my computer cell phones smart tv tablets all at the same time and this extender doesn't even slow down, my 2nd extender is outside and over 100 ft away form my router and it woks ok the signal falls off once and a while when it rains outside, but i only use it during parties and when i'm out working in the garage but it still handles over 10 devices at a time without any issue. So far i've owned 3 in a 6 year period and only 1 has failed after 2 years and it was my first one so 4 years later and these 2 work great

JUNK

This is a piece of junk. I could not get it to go to the desired internet feed. It went to one and then would not change even after following the directions several times. I felt like returning it but didn't even think it was worth my time. Potential customets: DO NOT BUY IT. Pastor Tom.

Trainwreck

I spent 5 hours trying to get this to work, and just could never get it there. A google search on this product was eye opening as the reviews, the Netgear support postings, and customer experiences just made things worse. This product, in my opinion, in RUBBISH!

Extender provides limited service

Several components will not navigate through the extender to the router/modem, difficult to dedicate resources.

Complete Waste of Money

I decided to purchase this "range extender" and I had trouble immediately from set up. I tried contacting NetGear and after spending around 4 hours on the phone with their technical support I got absolutely nowhere. A real waste of money. Very upsetting.

Resolved My Connection Problem

I was experiencing problems with being able to connect to my parents network. The computer, wireless network and router is located at the furthest end of a ranch home and I was trying to connect from the other end of the ranch without much success. The Wi-Fi Range Extender resolved all of my issues. The best part was that it was easy to install. I highly recommend this product!

Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender

I purchased the extender due to having a dropped internet signal from my router which was approximately 70 feet away and loss of signal having to come through a brick wall to my laptop. Since purchase, I have had excellant conectivity with the internet and have not lost signal even once. Great product and support in set up. Would recommend to anyone.
