Another great Nikkor prime

By

from San Diego, CA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I have a couple of zooms that cover this range but I wanted a prime for people and pet photos. This lens fills the bill with more speed and IQ than the zooms and is compact in size. I believe that knowledge, experience and technique/execution in photography are more important in producing great photos than belief in some lab test results might get you better pictures.

Awesome!!!!

By

This lens is hands down one of my favorite lenses. The sharpness is amazing. It's not even about the price of the lens. It's just a great one period. I use this lens for a good 80% of the portraits I take. You will not be disappointed if you purchase this one.

My Nikon 85mm prized glass

By

from Philadelphia, PA  -  Pro Photographer

I don't have a lot of money to spend and when I do buy a lens it is an important moment. This lens is so good I'm having a hard time not using it for my street photography. It's compact size fools the everday person. It packs a powerful click for the job.

Pretty good lens

By

from Pittsburgh, PA  -  Pro Photographer

I've been playing with different 85mm's to find the one that felt "right" and best fit with my work. I was hoping, of course, that this lens would do the trick because of the cheap price tag, but as a pro wedding photographer, this doesn't really cut it. It's very loud during focusing and creeps. However, in the right situation, the lens is pretty great. It's not the sharpest but it does have a consistant output which is really wonderful. I'll likely keep it for now to see if my mind changes. As of now, though, nothing compares to the nikkor 85mm f/1.4 in my book.

Great lens

Great fast lens. The only draw back is the threaded on lens hood. It would be much better if were the kind that snap on and that you can reverse for storage. The boken is wonderful and great for portraits.
