Novatron

About Novatron

Heavy duty convertible boom stand. The boom arm extends nearly 4 feet (with a counterweight) and will give plenty of reach for most lighting situations. The boom arm can be removed and placed in the top of the stand itself to become a regular heavy duty light stand that will raise a flash head or monolight to approx. 13 feet.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I am looking for a light/boom stand that will hold up to 7 lbs. (Beauty dish and flash) Any suggestions? Thank you
SCOTT M  I'm not familiar with the Novatron 12' boom light/stand, but purchased an Adorama one similar that is 6 ' with an 80" boom arm last summer. I have used it on studio shoots a couple of times, with an older-style Novatron head and 24" x 32" soft box with good results. However, two issues I noticed with mine are: I would have liked to have had a taller stand, so a 12' one sounds like it would work better, and the softbox/light I use produced a lot of torque on the boom. The set screws held with subtantial hand-tightening, but did not preclude their use in shoots. My advice would be if you plan on using a boom stand very often (which most photgraphers like to do with the setup you are describing) buy more robust than you think you will need. If Novatron lives up to its name on the boom you are looking at buying, it should work well. If it does, that would be good to know for me in the future! Hope this helps.
