This constant light rig is just a little soft or diffused for portraits, but you can still work with it. It is NOT flimsy by any means, but there are a lot of parts to put it together. So be careful not to loose those parts. I guess you could put higher wattage bulbs in it, to make it brighter & a little more contrasty. But all in all, it is a pretty good set-up for the money. Now a 9 or 7 or even a 6 bulb constant light along with higher wattage bulbs would be a lot better, BUT it would be a lot more money ! By the way, the unit head has to be fairly close to the subject and it is not like a speedlight/flash. Constant lights generally do not put out a lot of light to freeze motion like a speedlight/flash !

• A professional fluorescent light offering the benefit of daylight balanced lighting and an excellent base for digital and video photography. The Pro-lite has a higher spec than the cool-lite, and all of the benefits that this type of lighting produces.
A Plexiglas cover softens the light to produce an even light source and removes specular highlights on reflective surfaces when used with a pop up light tent or the light pods below.
Fluorescent continuous lighting is an economical alternative to studio lighting, with a Daylight balanced color temperature between 5000 and 5200k. Noiseless operation and a cool output allow heat sensitive products to be photographed with ease.
