The Strobies XS is unique way to hold your flash gun and use it with a softbox, a large beauty dish or with almost any any other "S" type fitting accessories available.
One of the major benefits of the XS Bracket is its ability to rotate it's hotshoe mount to enable your iTTL or eTTL port to be visible to your Infrared triggering system such as an SU800,STE-2 or control / trigger flashgun.
In addition to the rotating hotshoe we have built in a second hotshoe to hold a radio receiver or a second flash gun should you desire to use the Strobies XS tohold an Umbrella in the light stand fitting provided.
This will effectively double your output, a major benefit of this is reducing your recycling time and preserve your batteries to enable longer usage times.
A wide range of accessories are available to fit the Strobies XS brackets "S" type bayonet fitting, including the following items:
Beauty Dishes ( RF5000)
Softboxes (Any Pro range or Stellar Softbox up to 1 mtr)
Snoots (RF5006 or INT209)
Reflector RF5003 / Honeycombs AH6020,AH6030,AH6060
To fit the Stellar range of Barndoor's (RB4001) (requires a reflector RF5003) with this you may then add the Colour gel set (AC8011) allowing you to add spot colour to your backgrounds.
Interfit Umbrellas can also be fitted to the XS bracket via the light stand mounting bracket. When used with a standard reflector the light will fill the umbrella in a similar way as using a standard flash head.

This is a sturdy unit, does exactly what I need it to do: hold a bare bulb speed light (Adorama sells them as Flashpoint StreakLights) so I can use "standard" modifiers. I have used it with soft boxes, strip boxes, even a small beauty dish and various reflectors. It it useful for me when I am in a tight, crowded or small space - I use wireless triggers and avoid the wire clutter and extra space of studio lights. One slight annoyance is the the rubber gasket around the inside of the modifier bracket (presumably it is there to protect the sides of the speed light form the solid metal frame) continually falls out. Doesn't impact the use or operation in any way... just something to be aware of.
I'm using these in my small studio, to mount and use speed-lights rather than studio strobes. They are well designed and solidly built. They even work well when using speed-lights in optical slave mode. One minor issue: The rubber seal around the interior of the mounting ring opening (the place where you poke your flash through) is great for protecting your flash, but it comes loose very easily and can sometimes make mounting a modifier a bit more difficult.
I was a little unclear exactly how this would be at first. First off the bracket is HEAVY, but in a good way. Well built and designed. It holds the flash horizontally, which means that the orientation will need to be worked into your workflow. Also there does not appear to be room for a remote trigger. On my EX430 w/o sync port that will require I work on adding one or buying an EX600/580. This bracket take Bowens 'S' type mounts and I have found several beauty dishes and modifiers that allow work great on this. Comes with a 7" reflector but I wish that had included a difusion sock or grid...just sayin. All in all a good solution for studio'izing your on camera strobes.
I really like this bracket, but it is tight when used with a SB900 and the FlexTT5. If it were just wish it were a little longer, it would be perfect.
