The Interfit Photographic INT393 is a 33" Translucent/Black/Silver 7mm Shaft Backing Umbrella. Silver umbrella is used to bounce light onto a subject. It provides softening, with a harder shadow than a regular white umbrella. Light loss is usually ~1.5 f/stop compared to the same light used direct, bare light. The black backing cuts down on stray light. Use this size umbrella for a 1 - 2 person head-and-shoulders portrait.

I got this a week ago, and have already fallen in love with it. With the cover in place I get a nice even bounce with beautiful fill and wrap. The black backing helps cut down the light leakage, so it's a lot easier to control how the light looks. The silver lining on the inside of the cover gives a bit more kick and efficiency to it in "bounce" mode. When I pull the cover off it's a nice shoot-through umbrella, with the more directional, but still soft, light you associate with a softbox, but much more portable. For those who have said it's hard to get the cover on and off, all I can say is that 1. Make sure you have the umbrella CLOSED first, and 2. You simply flex the last couple of inches of the rib to get those last couple on. I can swap the cover on or off in just a minute or two. All said, I'm quite pleased with this product, I like to travel light when going to do a shoot someplace, and this is gives me two very versatile light mods in a very compact package.
